I like the look of that Hugger. I've seen a few that aren't that long so they dont really do their job too well. This one, however in the pics extends quite a long way giving lots of protection to the shock and frame. Is that the Skidmarx one?

2kwacks

yes they are sikdmarx huggers!

Do you have to take the rear wheel off to fit it?

Ziderman

No , but removing the Muffler does help. Simple enough job. Skimarx one comes with some instructions , so not too much head scratching in Garage.
Very pleased with mine. Fits well , good sturdy fit & all well thought out by Skidmarx. They are a good company for sure.
Just remember the Dog leg Bracket goes on the Pannier side.... ;D

like ziderman says! you dont need to remove the rear wheel! but you need to remove the exhaust! but 5 min job, only the join and the hanger bracket. remember to lock tight the tourqe arm bolts because skidmarx dont supply a silghtly longer bolt to allow for the hugger bracket on the tourqe arm! but this is not a problem, the nylon lock nut dose not pretude fully past the bolt when fully tightend like it did with out the haugger bracket! so as a extra precaution skidmarx recommend a medium lock tight solution, then tourqe as recomended! the hugger took me 30 mins to fit. and dose a excellent job of keeping the back end shit free!

You've all just convinced me. Just ordered one, £79.95 + £7.50 postage. Thats for the standard black one as opposed to the carbon fibre one. Deliver 7-10 days. I can live with that.  ;D

wise choice! they do keep the rear shock and regulator clean from all the shit! dont be concearned if when fitted there seems to be little room between the tyre and the hugger! have got about 4 mm clearence which is ample! just make sure you can spin the wheel freely with out it catching the hugger! I say 3 mm is a minium clearence you should have.

Yeah, no worries. I've had them on some of my other bikes, ideally they need to be  agood close fit.

I am not convinced that a hugger would stop this as the muck is flung off the tyre and deposited on the number plate and panniers before the tyre get round to the hugger.

What it probably needs is a rear fender extender, which somebody on the other forum suggested

theres nothing that will stop the shit from getting where the shit is covering the back of your bike around the number plate e.t.c the hugger is only to protect the shit from going on the shock and regulator and on the rear of the engine and under tray! but that shit on the back of your bike is harmless and can be removed easy with water! the hugger simple protects the shock e.t.c the more hard to excess places!

Aye, the hugger really protects the shock. As Routemaster says, there needs to be a rear fender extender

can not see how a fenda would prevent the shit from getting on the rear of the bike! but as far as am concerned I can live with that! as long as the shock and the hard to reach places are protected, the hugger dose a decent job of that! ;)
