.

- hi.

- re my 2012 GTR : when I inadvertently find myself stopped whilst still in , say , 5th or 6th gear , clutch in - if I then start to dab the gear lever down , sometimes the gear display will go blank and I don't know what gear I have gone down to.

- letting the clutch out slightly will immediately cue the display to show the gear which I have managed to get to.

- is this rider error ? Ie , am I supposed to be always paying attention and going down the gearbox as I am slowing down ? If I do that , no issues at all , the g.box is smooth and good.

- the manual does say that if the gear display goes blank , it means that the rider hasn't done the shift correctly.

- thanks in advance for any advice on this.

Hmmm i dont think i have ever stopped in a gear that high but i would have thought pressing the pedal should take you back down logically, i did have a problem with my gear indicator switch which went faulty, it did not show 3 4 5 anytime.

Perhaps (like me) your a lazy shifter.

- thanks for the assurance

- will try to pay more attention and go down the box as the bike is slowing.

Mine only does it when its stationary. I tend to be in the correct gear by the time I stop as I rely on engine braking.

As above, I've noticed this but its nothing to worry about.

I too have noticed this occasionally. If it happened a lot I'd be a bit concerned, but I'm already concerned about my box anyway, but my dealer will be checking it out when I have the rear shock sorted in a couple of weeks.

Incidentally, normally I always change down through the gears to slow down, only braking for the last bit.

Hmmm. I have seen that too but not a serious issue.

In the beginning, I sometimes found that when accelerating from stationary, then going from 1st to 2nd, it went into neutral....  Some cunning adjustment of the gear pedal position soon sorted that.

Cheers
