well as you know I sold my zzr1400 and bought a new zx6r, and would you "adam & eve it" the zx6r is higher rated  which in my opinion is bloody ridiculous, anyway the best qoute I,ve had is through swinton for my gtr1400 and the zx6r is £427.00 that's with full protected no claims, legal cover with no voluntary excess. can't be botherd with the time it takes of getting qoutes, but did try carol nash and spent 47 mins on the phone and the "knobjobs" wanted £1,200 so the swinton qoute look's like the best I'm going to get! any suggestions.. what are you paying, and what bikes are on your policy.
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

im guessing the bike is higher risk as its involved in more incidents/accidents than the zzr, although its not as powerful its usually ridden by younger lesser experienced riders.

most zzr1400 riders are mature and experienced which makes the bike appear statistically safer

yep..! already took that into consideration and is most likley the reason why it's higher rated insurance, but like my signature states, I'm getting on now, but I'm not yet passed it  always had a "middelweight" as a second bike so when I sold my zx636 I missed it, hence the zx6r I've now got

I have my GTR (17,000 miles a year), my 2006 ZX10R (4,000 miles a year) and my old Triumph Trophy (2,000 miles a year) all on one Carole Nash policy. £860 last year, but the Zx10 is by far and away the biggest culprit for that cost.

The GTR, despite the much higher value, and the much higher annual mileage is generally only £200 to £250 to insure on its own.

We do have to dig deep for our love of sportsbikes.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

fully comp insurance
No claims protection

Like all insurance you need to shop around and a lot depends on your post code; I'm fairly rural.  I was with bikesure for years with a respectable cost for my R1. When I recently changed to the GTR they wanted loads more. It was cheaper for me to sacrifice 2 months insurance, bin bikesure and insure the GTR with Swinton. £184 fully comp, protected no claims and no voluntary excess.

Auntie Carol fully comp protected £198 but I am old.

it's the zx6r that's raised the insurance..! the gtr1400 on it's own would have been £191.00 fully comp, no voluntary, protected no claims.
