Just blagged myself an excellent bargain.

After years of wearing Arai and Shoei they have now priced themselves out of the market for me (the new RX7 GP is over £600  :o )

I wanted something a bit 'retro' - particularly liked the Freddie Spencer rep - again too much buck!

Went to Into Gear, a local shop who had the Vemar Dovi rep on offer, down from £250 to £170.

Bit of haggling and walked out of the shop £133.50 lighter!

The blue looks cool in the sunlight, almost matching the blue of my baby! (not in the shade though!!)

Nice looking, very distinct. Its not always a question of pay mega bucks and get a top notch helmet, the amount you pay does not always represent the quality you get. Good find!

I've spent years, both professionaly and privately extolling the virtue of buying helmets that fit being superior to mega-buck brands that don't - Now I have practiced what I've preached!

have allways used arai chasers! there reasonable priced and have a anti mist insert and are light weight! but must admit, have been weighing up one of them schuberths c3 model! they are supposed to be the quietest helmets available and like the idear of the flip front with the sunvisor built in! suppose this may mean am getting old now!
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

I have a couple of Arai's a plain red RX7-RR, a Corsair Edwards rep, also a Shoei Multitec (superb helmet, far better build quality than the Schuberth in my opinion).

All were getting on a bit and the Shoei has had loads of hammer (probably best part of 25K) and even after cleaning was/is a bit rank!

Will have to see how Vemar fairs against the others.

Went to Birmingham for an exam last week, 280 miles round trip, and it was comfortable, fog free, very light and unobtrusive once used to the different fit.

A summers worth of use will sort it out though!

Hummm .. I have just ordered a new lid, last night in fact, from Lids Direct ( part of  Bikes Direct ) .. An Arai Chaser, St George flag paintwork ... thought that in this climate £369 was a little steep so have held off for a while but they have just reduced their price to £299, not a huge difference but worth a bit .. if I " ummed and ard " about it they would go back up again.
i have always had an Arai but swopped to a Shoei about 3 years ago simply for a change and it just hasn't lasted as well .. the padding has become too soft thus losing the helmets fit and the visor ratchets are worn so making the visor a little loose.. minor points but annoying on a daily basis.

have bought a few lids from lids direct, they have allways managed to beat the best price have had from other retailers!

My last lid, the Schuberth C3 I bought from Hein Gericke, with a bit of haggling they knocked me about £60 off which I was happy with.

the schuberth c3 is the helemt I was thinking of getting! what are they like, there supposed to be very quite, whats the weight. would you buy an other! and what price did you pay. lids direct have them for sale for around £400 is that expensive in your opinion as a user and owner.

Schubert C3 is the best helmet I've owned. Only issue I have with mine is that the pin lock isn't that brilliant on the visor. That may have been rectified as it was a common fault and I've had mine now for a few years.

It fits me like a glove, is light and quiet, although this depends on the specific geometry of the bike. I would buy another one without hesitation.

Its a great helmet. Mines a medium and weighs in at 1570 gramms. It is also extremely quiet and a very snug and comfortable fit. HG had them on sale for £460 ish I think. I paid either £400 or just under, I cant remember now. It seemed a reasonable price to me. Oh and yes, if I ever wanted a replacement helmet I would definately consider the C3 unless of course there was a superior alternative available.

I got mine from HG as well. You can always haggle with them  ;D

Given that most of my gear is from HG, I expect discounts  ;D

I tend to buy a lot of stuff from Bradford Motorcycles on Canal Road, Bradford, http://www.bradfordmotorcycles.co.uk/
The staff are friendly, well most of them anyway. I avoid the officious ones. They always give me discount on absolutely everything I buy, whether its a bke, clothing or something at the otherend of the scale, i.e. nuts and bolts.

Thats why I keep going back.  ;D
