But if he is a so called advanced rider, he should know that riding that close, at that speed is plainly wrong. Then to say he does it to get better footage for his camera, is bordering on criminal.

Can see your point BUT!!! if we all rode to the 'rule' book, riding a motorbike would be sooooo boring! :sleep1:

Mogster

Couldn't  agree more, but most of us dont profess to be "Advanced riders". If  you or I were being observed on a advanced test, and were riding that close to a vehicle in front you would be getting a bollocking for it. As I stated before his alleged comments that he does it to get better video footage, in my opinion is just plain wrong. Again in my opinion that bloke was travelling to close to the bike in front, under any circumstances, to be doing it just to get better video footage is criminal.

Having watched the video again, I can see nothing wrong with the positioning.

There was one occasion where the gap closed more than I would have wanted, but it was quickly reopened.

Reading the road ahead, trusting the person in front and being in a position to instruct on the move and 'see' waht the student does requires some closish riding.  That said I saw nothing 'too close' in the video.

Cameras give a different view to what you would see in the flesh and speed cannot be judged without some form of reference such as a speedometer.

The instructor is often 'off-set' to Simon so has the ability to stop in the distance he can see to be clear as he is creating it.

Four is fun.  Six is sex.

Winston!!!!!!! Sorry I still cant agree, I also have just watched it again, and I am adamant that I f anyone was travelling that close to my rear I would be spooked, and would just pull over and let them pass. Many years ago when I took the IAM bike test the examiner that day never got anywhere near that close to me.
