Therefore bikes shouldn't have cruise control.  :nono:

won't argue with that, most of our motorcycle fleet are now the rt1200 b.m.w, with the exception of a few st1100 still in use. I,ve tried the cruise control on the rt1200 and to be honest, wasn't impressed.

O.C.

I had cruise control on the K1300GT EE and it was a useful gimmick at first, but I soon got tired of it, I don't do that many motorway miles anyway, which is where I would use it

I spose I should say "I've managed without it all these years, so why do I need it now" ?

What would you rather be   or a wasp?

I have a Throttlemeister (bar-end weight friction type) throttle lock (currently fitted to the GTR1000, but also fits the 1400).
It is really useful on long boring motorway rides.
Just lock it and you can relax your right hand or wave it about.
You do have to remember to shut the throttle manually in an emergency stop situation, but for me that's pretty automatic.
The only difference you get with a Cruise Control is that it maintains a fixed speed, rather than a fixed throttle, and that it cancels as soon as you hit the brakes.
Given the price difference I'll stick with the Throttlemeister.

Regardless of the above, whilst I do occasionally wave with both hands at people, it is rarely for more than a second or so.
I have NEVER moved to the back seat whilst on "cruise". IMHO that is stupidity incarnate.

You are right Boomer.
Especially on long motorway hauls it would be nice to be able to take the right hand off the grip from time to time and I have thought about getting one of those as well.

Lazy question Mr Boomer; I should do my own research. But if you happen to know:

Is there a cruise control available for the GTR ? Who makes it?  What do they cost?

Much obliged.

I used a cruise control in a friends car last year and found it superb on the damn M/Ws
