forgot about this eco mode switch that changes the fuel for economy for motorway use :embarrassed: must give it try sometime  might save a few quid when I tour france  as any regular motorway user's tried this eco mode yet and more importantly, dose it work?

Sadly some of my commuting miles are A3 into London and a bit of A23 Brighton to Gatwick and TBH it probably does work but then it would anyway if you are more gentle on the throttle with or without the ECO icon on the dash ... we all know how to ride easy and save fuel or give it some wellington and fill up a little more often ... which is what I like...

mmmm all i can say is i do pretty regular trips from Blackburn down to Somerset to visit the girlfriend and use it .... it alows me to get the 217mile down there and have a bit left for the morning to go fill up . but i no idea how far the tank range is without it

In my experience it does work....its not going to save you a huge amount, but you will see the difference if you set the computer to current Mpg, check what it is reading,  and then apply the ECO mode and check it again

I don't think there will be much "ECO" usage whilst on tour !!

I use it all the time, cruising at 80mph on the motorway gives around 52~54mpg.  Above this and it's less effective.

I hammer in on the A roads though, so it goes back down to 48~50mpg.

I have noticed one thing that I think is ECO related, accelerating moderately hard in the wet can cause the back wheel to spin up.  Happened a few times this winter on wet/icy roads at about 70mph.  I suspect that there's a power band effect as you rev the engine and it goes from ECO to full-on.  Funnily enough, traction control did not kick it at any time.  It either doesn't work at high speed, or it wasn't really spinning.  Felt like it though...

well I'm not to sure about that  last time we toured france I was on my zzr1400 and my mate on his hayabusa, all we seem to do is stop for fuel  hope the gtr is kinder on my wallet

Best I ever got was 260 miles out of a tank in France on National roads in Eco mode last year.
Cruising @ 80-90 mph in Eco mode on the Motorway I got about 240.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Lonewolf

Thats a very decent range.

That is good, best I managed was about 220 returning from Austria single rider with full luggage.

I flick mine into eco every time I get on it, and dont see any point in not doing so unless you want to ride like a loon. I like to get a shift on, but never ride like a loon  :innocent: . Mine has done 52.3 miles per gallon since new and I am well chuffed with that. Dont think they would do that MPG in normal mode though.

Easy peesy, The forward facing grey button on the left hand cluster controls the ECO mode, after starting the engine hold the switch in for between 1 and 3 seconds and the eco text will appear on the dash, thats it away ya go. Do remember though that when you have stopped the engine, fuel, brew etc you will have to put it back into eco as before.
