In preperation of our forthcoming euro tour i really need to upgrade the maps on my zumo. Anyone know the best way for this, im seeing links on the garmin site for downloads without any indication of pricing ( are they free ? doubt it)
also seeing some SD cards with all maps on via ebay for about 50 60 quid

are my current maps internal, what do i need to do ?

:ohplease:

Hi

For the 550 I have always downloaded the maps from the Garmin site. I don't think the maps on the SD card will load onto or work with the 550 but I could be wrong.

From memory there is an initial update available when you purchase the 550 but I think it is only available for 3 months. After that you have to purchase updates. I have had my 550 for about 3 or 4 years now and I bought the lifetime update package which seemd to represent better value for money.

To get an update you will need to login to the Garmin web site, with the 550 connected to the PC and look for the My Dashboard or My Maps and follow the links.

Kind regards

Steve

The site shows the updates at $109. Is there a reason why the updates cant be applied from that source?

Just a reminder. The Western Europe map won't fit on the Zumo 550 even if you have a SD card inserted.
You can only (and have to) install a smaller map on the default drive
You can then to use the Map Updater tool to install more maps on the SD card.
At least the latest updater overrides the previous map so no need to delete it manually before the update any more.

so i currently have all of europe on my zumo , im going to update those maps and you say there wont be room, dont understand that as they currently fit ?

Lonewolf

I think the unit will support a 32gb SD card, you saying all the maps wont fit on there?
