--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Tuesday 13 March 2012 at 7.30pm as part of the Essex Book Festival we are welcoming Charley Boorman to discuss his new publication 'Extreme Frontiers: Racing Across Canada from Newfoundland to the Rockies'.  The book, an exciting new adventure and travel book from 'the Michael Palin of motorbikes', follows his Channel 5 TV series.  It is Charley Boorman at his best:  daring, curious and good-humoured, addressing all armchair travellers, bike enthusiasts and anyone in search of adventure.

Tickets are available from the school:  £7.00; £5.00 concessions.
Tel. 01371 872560.

Charley Boorman is a modern-day adventurer, travel writer and entertainer.  Previous publications include "Long Way Round" a record of his a motorcycle trip, with actor Ewan McGregor, in 2004 from London to New York via Europe and Asia.

In 2006 and Charley competed in the famous Dakar rally which was filmed and then became the "Race to Dakar" TV series, DVD and book.

2007 saw another journey with Ewan, called "Long Way Down", from John O'Groats in Scotland to Cape Town, SA.  The book chronicling their adventure became another best seller and "Winner Galaxy British Book Award 2008- Best Popular Non Fiction".

In 2008 Charley went on a solo adventure which took him all around the world – "By Any Means". It began in his home town in county Wicklow and ended in Sydney, Australia. He set out with the intention of making the journey "by any means" of local transport available.  There is a book and DVD available of 'By Any Means'.

I would rather walk round Bradford with a nail in me shoe that go and watch that bloke talking about motorcycling. I just think that he is a chancer that got lucky in doing something that in my opinion had little merit.

Is it just me who gives the bloke zero credit for doing that trip?, that was set up for a tv production, backed up by a team of mechanics, planners, organizers, a small army of helpers, and an endless budget. Nah sorry not my kind of bloke. :nono:

If you ever get the chance to see Ausyin Vince - GO!

He is brilliant.  His 'gang' did TLWR and he was used as an advisor by the productiion team.

His talks are extremely funny and he really rips TLWR a new one.

He is honestly brilliant, entertaining, funny politically incorrect and honest.

His hang did it on second hand under a grand DR350's et al.

No production team.  No back up. No new sponsored machines
