Hi , thought it about time i logged on here as "other" site is kinda drying up............. basically one of the last topics i posted over there was to say that when i got my bike back from the insurers after my little off on Jan 2nd in a unexpected snow storm i would be telling every man and his dog i back on the road    so here i am tellin everyone I BACK WOOO HOOOOOO
oh by the way the bike is a 2010 and has 15k on her and counting.

:185:  Slane. Plenty here from the other site. Whereabouts you based?

slane

Hi Lonewolf

Kwikasfuki

Hi Slane, welcome to the madhouse.

I think we need to get a northern ride out organised. There's tons of us northerners here. I commute to Manchester daily.

What happened to your bike?

Hi Kwikasfuki
so where abouts you commute to ? meet up be good, Rivi always a popular place to start .

i fell of my bike while out for a spin with the girlfriend up around the Kettlewell area heading to Hawes ,we ran into a  freak snow storm on top of the hills and the next thing i knew i was on my a *se listening to the not so nice sound of plastic grinding down, this was my first claim since the 80s so it kinda over due lol  luckily we were both ok ,in fact i hurt myself more trying to pick it up .damn these things are heavy . could have been worse £1800 damage but as i said got a load of spares now for next time

I work near the airport, so south Manchester. The commute is a 80 mile round commute in winter, and easily extended in the summer as I tend to explore the Pennines on the way back.

Glad to hear you both are ok. £1800 isn't too bad I guess. The money is immaterial as your health is more valuable. I've not yet had the pleasure of driving in the snow but I've seen plenty of pics on this forums of GTRs stuck in snow. On lifting the bike there is a technique that makes is easier. I learnt it the hard way when I dropped mine (fortunately on a soft grass verge). Put your back to the bike, one hand on the rack, the other on the handlebar and lift. Much, much easier than being forward facing.

Are you the guys that were sheltering behind a wall trying to speak to the AA, if so welcome, if not welcome

slane

funnily enough i seen that technique used in Lythem St Annes on a display given with wings ,it looked so easy but it didnt come to mind when i needed it  :embarrassed:
that not a bad commute at all ,makes me feel better only doing 60mile a day

elloo winston , i hung out for as long as i could over there but enough is enough ,and as u say humour not the most avid visiter , yeh i got it still ,but only cos the ex did a good job on my account when she did a runner last january  :censored:  but that was then and this is now so to speak . i now got to appreciate it alot more and do regular runs to Somerset to visit new girlfriend , who rides a nice 600 bandit .

slane

hi Viper
yeh that was me . boy was it windy that day as well, was it you who rode past ? dont get me started on the AA they were next to hopeless at moving the bike, 4hr wait they told me.but got there in 3.5hr  and then they almost dropped the bike of side trailer when the little trolly thing they have tipped up ,the AA guy was shaking almost as much as me and was very glad of the brew we gave him
