Hello folks. I have been a long time owner of 2 FJR's now. Thinking about a bit of a change & the Gtr a possibility. I am sure loads going to tell me how fantastic the Gtr is, but is there any one on here who has owned a Fjr & now has Gtr. Be interesting to hear opinions twixt the two.
Ditched last wench , but new one may be interested in Touring , so thought best stick to Tour type Bikes. That & like the comfort on wrists.
Many thanks Alan

Hi there Alan, I haven't personally ever owned an FJR but a couple of my mates have them and I once got pulled by one in North Wales but thats a different story. ;D
I did look at a new FJR before I bought the GTR but it just didnt get me excited if that makes sense. I'm not going to start slagging the FJR off......shall I,.... no I wont ;D
If you fancy a change, the GTR will certainly be a strong contender and comes in considerably cheaper than the FJR.

Best bet, arrange a test drive but make sure you take your wallet.  :)

I actually like the FJR. I sat on the 2010 model and could see myself riding one. However, the GTR feels more like a touring bike to me. I always say variety is the spice of life so moving from a FJR to a GTR is a natural choice (and vice versa)

As LW says, go and test ride one. If you're in Yorkshire, Autorama in Batley normally have one

Deed done. Got the one I was after 2008 6,000 mile just over.  £7,300. Not bad me thinks.
Before all the Racism starts it's silver..... Why , never looks to smart , but never looks too dirty.

Lonewolf

Bloody hell that was quick.  8)

I take it you are referring to a GTR when you say you bought one. I had to work on the wife a while before she authorised the new purchase!! ;D

Price wise, yes you have done well with that. If you get a chance stick some photos on, we always like to see other members bikes.

Ziderman

To be honest I had made my mind pretty well much some months back. Been eying a few up & watching prices. Knocked dealer down a bit too. Others for that price all had between 10 16 k on them. Interestingly they were all Black...is the Silver Grey less popular.
Any how , going to asking lots questions soon. Like best way to wire up the Autocom etc...

When get chance will take some pics & post them.
Thanks Alan.

I put a post on about my installation of the autocom system, its a bit drawn out , because I never rush things and nearly always experience problems, mostly cause I'm not that mechanically minded but I'm always prepared to have a go.  ;D

Do a search from the home screen and you should find it.

Where abouts can find your post mate.
Picked bike up. Did a wet sometimes little muddy 100
Miles on it yesterday. From picking it up at Exeter back home to North Devon then down to girl friends in Plymouth. pretty twisty roads ....first impressions...awesome! Handles like dream & that was in the wet.
What I havent got is an owners manual, Any ideas where can get hold of one.
Thanks Alan

Just rode it back from Plym in more rain..hey ho !  :o

Lonewolf

Time to give it a good clean then.  :)

Yeap got to say that's the muckiest first couple days ever had with a new Bike....

Got the service manual down load , thank you very much. Do they not to a basic hand book , showing coolant locations etc , where the Battery is a buggered if I can see which side it's under.
Sorry to be pain...

There is a standard A5 approx size owners handbook. I would ask back at the dealer or any authorised Kawasaki dealership if they have one or if they can get you one. You might also be lucky and find one on Ebay.

The battery cover is on the right hand side, (looking forward) small plastic cover to remove first, one allen bolt I think and then an overlapping metal plate with four or five hexagnal bolts. The battery is behind the metal plate.

The air fiter and coolant reservoir are all on the left hand side.

I almost sound like I know what I am on about,  ;D Joking aside the above is correct as to the location of the parts you mentioned.

The handbook can be useful. Your dealer should be able to order you one
