recently noticed that my exhaust where it joins to the collected box is blowing slightly from where it clamps to the link pipe. recently fitted a hugger, so removed the exhaust to gain excess to the tourqe arm bolt. I have made sure the gasket was located correctly and tightend the clamp to the recommeded tourqe, have also tightend the clamp a bit more, but it still blows slightly, never noticed if it was blowing slightly before I removed the exhaust. so not sure if this is exceptable, dont want to use exhaust sealing paste unless it needs to be air tight! just woundering if any one else that as removed there exhaust as had this problem. not sure if I should have re-newed the gasket. just check yours and see if there a slight blow from the join. if not, will need to use a sealing paste, if it needs to be air tight!
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Don't think there is anything to worry about. When I replaced my exhaust I had to remove the gasket completely to fit the new link pipe. So it has no gasket or sealant and blows a little. Its been like that for 18 months and doesn't worry me one bit

For the cost of a new exhaust gasket I would have replaced it.

fair comment! but the exhaust gasket was perfect, not torn or marked in anyway! infact I did not have any trouble sliding the link pipe back in! as you know, using the old gasket can crush up! which causes problems, but this gasket was still like new! thinking it may have been blowing slighty from new! and slightly blowing may be the norm! so just thought I would ask if anyone eles as a slight blow from the clamp join!

Yeah, I might be totally off the mark, sometimes its just a simple process of elimination as to what's been disturbed.

Personally, I think the bike needs to make more noise. It's too damn quiet

ok! thanks for the replys. bought a tube of exhaust sealant, and applied a small amount to the inside and out side of the gasket. now as air tight as a nats chuffter!
