Ok then ... that's got you away from top boxes and filtering  ;D ... now then, who here wet shaves with traditional brush and double sided razor ? Not many I suspect.
I ask as I am day 5 of Movember ... grow a beard/tash during November and collect £ for Prostate Cancer ... something us men should all be aware of .. ( thread to follow soon ! )
So, a little unshaven and untidy at the moment, starting to itch and think I desperately need a shave .... chap at work has recently converted to the " old style " of shaving ... double sided Merkur Razor, Badger Brush and feather blades etc ( little know it all arn't I ? ) ... swears by it .. shave down shave up and shave across your face splash wash balm and clean etc ... ultra smooth .. good for the ladies who like a nice chin ... So for Xmas I have just ordered me a pile of kit, off Amazon actually and look forward to a new me, so long as I don't slash my face to ribbons !!
Found a place in Old Bond Street last night, ( yes yes I was at work ) that only sells this kit so it just made me think there must be a lot of blokes out there that DO shave old fashion style or with the old cut throats as this place has been there since 1845 and clearly survives well despite rents and or recessions etc ...
So ... are you a traditionalist or a Bic throw away sort of bloke ????

Best of luck with Movember  :o

When I worked out in the Middle East I would go to a barber who did a very very good wet shave with a "razor" using traditional techniques etc - some of the best close shaves I have had  ::)

I once bought a cut throat razor to have a go, but unfortunately I couldn't use it. Every time I tried it, it made me cringe and feel faint! They're quite dangerous you know, you could have someone's head off with one.

I stick to electric, much, much safer.

did use the bic type of razor or anythink I could get my hands on, then last chrismas the wife bought me a electric "all singing all dancing clean it self job" and have never look back!
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Anyone else itching like hell?

Now i know why i shave every other day . .  .

LR-The itching will soon pass, just use your missuses hair conditioner when in the shower.
I use badger brush with lavender soap but still with the modern triple blade razor. Does the job just fine. I remember my dad always used a Merkur razor and he did try a Bic Safety? razor for a while but always came down from shaving with bits of bog roll dotted all over his face, he now back to the Merkur razor.
Have you thought about how you are going go about your first shave after a month of not doing so?
Once you back to clean shaving your face will feel as soft as the proverbial " babies bottom"

Best shave and hair cut I ever had was with a cut throat in Palermo. The barber couldn't speak a word of English and me no Italian, he got the job done though. Mates were sat behind me singing the tune from the scenein  Resevoir dogs where policeman is cut with a cut throat and petrol used as aftershave.

Rusty

Thanks for that ... someone else suggested conditioner so I shall give it a go !
After a month I shall use an electric trimmer on a short " Number 1 " to get it down to a stubble and go from there  ;D
Looking forward to Christmas and a whole new era of smoothness and allum blocks !!

Don't worry, the itching will stop after a few days.
I should know since I have had a beard most of my adult life.  ;D ;D
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Rusty

Thanks .... I can feel some stubbly / beardy pictures coming up .. perhaps every few days to show you all how it's going ! ( that'l be nice won't it ? NOT !  ;D )

Rusty

Here we go then .... a bit too much shirt ( like it ? ) .... you can see why I am going to put conditioner in it .... is it blond / ginger / or grey ( ish ) ????

Don't tell me ... a cunning bar graph with a choice of two colours ... ginger or grey  ..... what have I done ????  ;D

if you want itching try having a 'beckham'.....  :o
She is like the Bumblebee, she should not fly....... and yet she does!

started traditional shaving about a year ago  ---- once you've bought the essentials its a cheap way to get the smoothest shave.  Perhaps you should try the shaving cream before opting for soap ( it's easier to get a good lather !)
- The amount of different blades is huge and if you don't find one make you get along with, keep searching. Btw - feather blades are lethal for a beginner !!
it's the closest thing to a women's pampering that men can do - and it's a little bit of a luxury imho  ------- (makes you feel like an old man when you first start lol )

 - btw -  the perceived wisdom is that an old fashioned safety razor with one sharp blade will outperform any of the modern triple/quadruple etc.. gillette/wilkinson sword modern throw aways that cost an absolute fortune for replacement blades !!!
