I use the glueless Plug n go.

It's simple and very effective.   The trouble with the glue/mushroom kit is if the glue doesn't set properly you can't redo it.  With the glueless one you can.

Also I found that there was only enough glue for one repair.
The glueless kit is about £25 and I think it's worth its weight in rubber.

It's great to ride over there.  The motorists are far more biker aware, and biker friendly than back home here.

You just need to watch out for the cars with UK plates!

Enjoy it.

Why do BMWs need heated grips........

I thought they only went out in fair weather...

(sat here with my helmet on taking cover)!

The issue with the use of a phone in the car has been shown that the distraction is the same for hand held or hands free.  And that they distraction last for about 15-20 minutes after the call has ended.

The distraction is deemed to be similar to driving under the influence of alcohol.

It's not the same as listening to the radio or talking to your passengers.  It's because you get engrossed in a conversation with somebody outside of the environment that you are in.

With regards to enforcement?  Enforcement by who?

A report out recently states that road casualties have shown a sharp rise which coincides with the vast reduction in Traffic Police Officers.

Traffic Policing (or the posh new term Roads Policing Unit) is not a 'Performance Indicator' for Chief Police Officers so comes much further down the priority ladder that many other topics.

Many UK motorways no longer have dedicated Motorway Traffic Departments.

For example, I know that the Chief Constable in South Wales at the time that the new 'Orange' Highways Patrol 'Traffic Officers' were coming in withdrew the Police cover for the M4 immediately.

As the Goverment withdrew her budget for Police motorway cover to put it towards the new highways Patrols she pulled the police cover.

Whilst the roadside cameras can issue far more tickets in a day than I ever could in a shift, they don't deal with the other 'crash causation' factors like tailgating, lack of lane discipline and using the mobile phone etc.

The cameras have no discretion and no on the spot education value, as getting pulled and having a bollicking on the side of the road at the time of the offence by a Traffic Cop!

I've got the Oxford heated grips on mine.  With the push button settings (not the dial).

They are on their third switch unti as the others hae not proven to be waterproof!

But since these were fitted Oxford changed the connections so I couldn't just replace the switch but had to change most of the harness that goes with them.

That has happened twice.

Currently the left grip doesn't heat up at all and the right grip comes on even with the unit switched off.

So it looks like the switch unit has fouled again and needs replacing once more.

It's a bit ridiculous that the switch unit is not fully waterproof and would need to be mounted somewhere other than conveniently on the handlebars.

I wouldn't recommend Oxford.  They are ok when they are actually working correctly but having an unreliable (and expensive to replace) switch unit  is getting a bit annoying.

Maybe the new dial type of switch is more reliable.
