SBS every time. I switched to them after i was advised to use them(dual carbon) in my race bike .
I've now been using them on my road bikes for the last few years. Carbon are not advised for road use as they need a lot of heat to work. The standard sintered SBS are fine, but if you ride hard and brake heavy, the RS(race sinter) work fine on the road. Also great Value. Search fleabay

Not sure why you would want one for the rear as theres a centre stand. I do have a stand for the front end that i use to lift the front up for tyre changes etc but that works fine with centre stand.

1400GTR Discussion / Rear wheel bearing
March 21, 2014, 04:38:58 PM
Just taken the GTR for its MOT. Got an advisory for play in the rear wheel bearing. Not impressed (as other threads on here say aswell). The bikes only done 16700 miles.

Got a new set of sealed bearings from my local K dealer for £12. They supply aftermarket which tells us something about the original fitment doesn't it?

Really easy to do.

Take the wheel out, remove dust seal on the outer of the wheel, get a knocking stick and something to use a drift against the rear of the bearing, knock the bearing out from the opposite side  working around the bearing as you go, collect spacer that will fall out, knock new bearings in using a large socket on the outer race 'till they seat fully(you can hear when its home),remember to put the spacer back in before fitting the second bearing, replace dust seal, re fit wheel.

The whole process took about 40 mins.

I personally wouldn't touch EBC for use in heavy bikes. I've always found them to be good for light weight (upto 600cc) bikes but not in big heavy bikes.

I had used EBC for years in my road and race bikes. I converted to SBS a few years ago after they were recommended to me for use in my 2005 ZX10. They were well known for having crap brakes (lever to the bar brown trouser moments were commonplace) and most people seemed to fit a Brembo M'cyl to cure it. I did exactly the same (with EBC pads fitted) and the brakes were much better. But once i tried the SBS (in RS compound on that bike) they were so good, with better stopping power and less fade than any pad i had ever used before i ended up putting the standard M'cyl back on and selling the Brembo. I've used SBS ever since.

Dual carbon are race only as they only work when really hot.
RS are good for fast road/track
HS or street excel as they are often called are good for normal road riding but fine if you want to give the bike a bit of stick.

easy enough to find on fleabay. Around £60 for the full set for the front.

search for 3m dinoc on ebay. buy a small sheet and cut it to size to protect the frame.

Well it turns out that neither F C moto or Bikerland in Germany had the size of jacket i need in stock. I emailed them both and was told they were out of stock and would not be replaced which i found a bit odd.

On the bright side i went back to Motocentral, showed them the websites of F C moto and bikerland and said that if they could get anywhere near their price i would buy the jacket there and then. There was a bit of discussion between the shop floor staff and the manager and after 5 minutes they came back with an offer that was close enough for me to accept. It was a bit more than it would have cost to buy and pay the postage from Germany but i'm  happy enough to pay a bit more as at least my money is gong into a local business. I'm now the proud owner of a Rukka Argonaught jacket.

I've been to motocentral which is close to where i live to try the kit for size. While there i asked about movement on their price. They said they would beat any UK price if the company they are competing against carry it in stock. But not necessarily on the continent. unfortunately F C moto dont have one in my size at the minute. I've emailed them to get an anticipated date for when they will re stock and i'm going to take a screen shot from their online store and the reply to my email to motocentral to see what they can do. I would prefer to keep my money going into our economy i don't mind paying a few quid more but over here the prices are around £800 FC moto's price is £438. It's a no brainer.

Thanks for the reply's.  Looks like FC-moto will be probably be getting my business.
How can UK stockists justify charging £800 for a jacket i can get online from our German cousins for around £450. I realise there's currency exchange and different taxation but surely it cant make that much difference can it??
I'm off to my local stockist tomorrow with evidence of the price i can get one from online and see what they say.

General Discussion / Rukka kit

Hi all.

I'm looking at buying some Rukka kit. Probably an Argo jacket and Just wondered if anybody had bought from fc-moto in Germany. Their prices are miles cheaper than anywhere in this country.

Cheers

Yes the BMC is washable. The only reason i recommend them is that i used to use k&N because everyone else did. It wasn't until my engine tuner recommended them to me for my race bikes and i saw the difference in output on the dyno that i converted. That's not to say K&N aren't good, just that my experience is that BMC release more power. There is a race and road version of the BMC  filter aswell.

BMC for me. Started  using them in my race bikes a few years ago. They were recommended to me by the guy that tuned my bikes. always gave better power on the dyno than k&n. wouldn't use anything else now.

ACF 50. Stops corrosion, displaces water. Just spray a bit onto a microfibre cloth and wipe over the affected area on the back of the tank where the corrosion is. To fully protect you whole bike have you considered getting the all year biker treatment. Many on here(and many other forums) have had their bikes done and are really pleased with the result.

just had a look at the chainspeed website. looks like part number 2091 is what you want. Headset wiring without speakers, with 3.5mm jack for in ear monitors.
