I would agree with everything said on the PR3's. My original B/S squared off at 4,500 miles and became quite dangerous to ride on. Cheers B/F

General Discussion / HEADLIGHT

This may be a little lame, but i have checked with my local Kawasaki dealer and he tells me that on my 57 plate GTR, thta when travelling only ONE headlight should be on. The second one only comes on when you are on full beam? is this correct please.Cheers B/F

Hello Trigger happy,

Had my 57plate bike back from BMC Racing Whitchurch Shrop, now with Remus Hexacone, flies out, pc3, k/n filter, fully mapped to my specs.

148 b.h.p. at the rear wheel, which is plenty for me. I will have the c/d of the mapping if anyone wants to copy it.

The intersting thing for me was, there were flat spots everywhere at low revs, which was concured when it was on the dyno. The fuel was nearly non exsistant at low revs and too rich at high revs. So what we have done, 1st to 4th gear the fuel is spot on when the revs are needed, and in 5th/6th via the pc it reverts back to running lean for crusing. Only been back a day or so, but it feels so much smoother now. With the exhaust baffle out, there is'nt much difference noise wise, than with it in. The weight of the standard exhaust against the carbon remus is huge, two hands to take it off, and two fingers to put the new one on.

On the dyno, the standard b.h.p. was 137 at the rear wheel, with the remus this added another 5bhp, and the other 6 bhp was with the mapping etc.

The engine is still a little tight, so in time it should become even better.

Mike at BMC said that every engine is different, even though it is the same model etc.

The cost was a little more than i was first qouted, but i think it was well worth it, due to the time it took to get it right. It usually takes abot 10/12 runs to map a bike says B.M.C., mine took 29 runs and cost me £580.00 this included the all parts less the exhaust.

I hope that this has been of interest . Cheers B/F

My first bike was also a Honda ss50 straight pipe handles bars 4 speed, 49mph flat out wind behind you down hill.

I always wanted either a FS1E OR A Gilera, those were the days!!!!

Then onto A SUZUKI GT 250A, followed by the 750. A little break from bikes, due to body breaks from a crash.

Then onto Honda cb 175, 200, 500.

Then another break from bikes into car racing, then ran out of money!!!

Then a mad time of 2 ZX10'S, gsx 1000, Honda Repsol, Honda hornet 600(crap),

BacK onto Suzuki Intruder 1500, 1300 pan, gtr 1400 and Honda SP1.

I am sure i have left some out, if i put down this bottle of wine and remember, i will post the others.

I listened to the forum, did the tel round, and still found for what i require, Carol Nash was streets ahead of everybody. I do believe they pick and choose, age, mileage, no claims %, etc plays a BIG part in the yearly fees.

Bennets would not insure my 3 bikes? they said their brokers were not interested.

Wait until the winter, the will want to know you then.

Just my thoughts.

General Discussion / Re: Guide prices on motorbikes
June 23, 2011, 09:49:47 PM
What i have done lately, i tel/ several bike dealers to give me a price on a part ex of my GTR, SP1 and my Cadaliac STS 4.6 V8.

To my amazement, the best deal offered was by BMW Mottrad Chester. This was for all 3 of my stock against their, S1000 RR EX DEMO with 1,380 miles on the clock.

I find this the best and accurate way of gettting a true price for any vechicles, be it bike.car etc.

I was offered £7,300 for my 57 GTR, £3,800 FOR MY sp1 and £1,700 for my ten year old STS.

This meant they gave me their bike(11 plate 3 months old) + £1,800 cash back.

Hope this helps.

My add on to the list.

Puncture repair kit essential.

Map of where you are travelling.(in case sat/nav breaks etc.)

Plastic bags for your feet, for if you get caught in cloud burst, as i did in France, on my way back from Germany.

Clean under pants for me!!(twice daily)

Deodorant, as i do not like being a smelly biker.

Cheers Flash.

Have had PR3'S on now for about 2 months, it has transformed the bike, from the original's.

A word to the wise, who ever changes the tyres, remind them that you have valve sensors on the inside of the rims.

You will find that, if they don't know, you will end up with a hand full of bits and a bill of £100.00 per wheel.

Hello Lonewolf,

I use Bennets on some of my bikes, but have just switched to Carol Nash, who was £100/s cheaper.

Some of the reason why insurance has increased across the board, is that our lovely co Goverment have added a stealth tax of 10% on all premiums.

So the insurance companies add a little extra for themselves!!!

Hope this helps,

Introductions / Re: A big hello
May 25, 2011, 09:04:01 PM
Hello nogoslow,

I had a st1300 on a 57plate. Was quite content until i put a genuine topbox on it(after the Honda main dealer convinced me it was ok) rode it or should i say weaved my way to Switzerland and back.

It was dangerous, so i swapped it for a Black 57 plated GTR.

With a few mods to it, i now enjoy touring again and having a blast when i feel like it.

I am pleased, that i made the change.

I has a blow out once, it was luckerly in the rear tyre, of a Honda Monkey Bike.

I was on a test run down  a dual carriageway, i manged to hold on to it, squerming everywhere.

Then i learnt, that OKO, is no good for high powered bikes.

New tube fitted and away we go, oh!! memories.

Cheers Flash.
