Thanks for all the input everyone.  I do indeed have the EBC Pro Lite XC discs with the patented square bobbin.  So, how did things pan out?  Well, I stripped all ten brake pads out, cleaned everything up, checked over the calipers and reassembled with a little copper-ease.  Then I did a complete brake fluid change and bled everything up.
Err, what a difference!  They are definitely working now.  The old brake fluid looked really clean but there is a huge improvement to the feel with new.

Thanks for the input. Thing is, I'm running EBC' s,  the rotors too and it's got way off the bite and feel I'd expect. Think I'll strip them out, clean them, new brake fluid, that kind of thing and see where we go from there.
Cheers all!

The GTR has two pairs of brake pads in each front caliper.  I'm running sintered HH pads which are great for hauling the bike down from high speed but not so great when you are doing 30mph, they are cold and some idiot pulls out in front of you.

Has anyone tried pairing a road compound pad with a race compound pad in each side of each caliper?

It might give a really good spread of braking efficiency or it might be a crazy idea.  Any thoughts?

I have a Standard 2010 taller screen, a Calsci extra tall and wide and a laminar lip.  But do you know what for me outperforms all of them?  The spoiler off my Givi airflow AF330 which I've fitted to the standard 2010 screen! :mfr_lol:
I serviced the front bush on the electric screen mechanism to take any play out of it first mind.

interesting. ..very interesting.

Have you got any pictures

I ask because I had the excellent Givi Aer flow on a Versys 1000, its ugly but very effective, also because on my current latest model GTR the screen has been changed with the addition of a vent on the lower part of the screen, which I suppose is a nod towards the Givi Aerflow design.

I've been trying to upload photos of my Givi screen but the upload time keeps timing out.  It may be that my broadband is too rubbish, I've even tried zipping the files.
Anyway, in brief, I serviced the electric screen mechanism to take out all play and wobble. Next I made a masking tape template for the holes to be drilled and very accurately marked out the standard fairing to fit the standard Givi AF330 mounting turrets. I carefully drilled the screen and fitted the turrets, then slid the air blade into position.  These turrets are adjustable to give the blade about 100mm of adjustment and it can be locked into various positions.
The finished job actually looks factory, the blade seems to suit this bike better than the adventure bikes.
I tested the blade worked before I committed to drilling by taping it in position.
What is it like?  I designed it so that my sweet spot is in the middle of the adjustment range, which for me is with the blade just proud of the top of the original screen.  I also have the electric adjuster on position 3.
Buffeting and noise are greatly reduced, like they are when this blade is fitted to an adventure bike.  It is not absolutely perfect, there is still some light wind noise.  Like all screens, it cannot protect from crosswinds or turbulence following vans.  For me, on a touring bike, its all about covering vast distances, quickly and comfortably and a good screen cuts down rider fatigue massively.  My biggest day to date was 440miles and I was fresh enough to hit a bar afterwards thanks to a screen that works.
I have tested this screen at over 135mph and it is absolutely stable, the Calsci XL would be touching your forehead and the laminar whistles above 100mph.  Good compromise I'd say.  The bits are around £50 new on Ebay.

Hi everyone.  Thanks for your interest in my Givi screen.  I've been trying to upload some pics for some time but without success.  I will keep trying

Accessories, Farkels and Mods / Re: Aftermarket Can
April 09, 2016, 10:36:42 PM
I like the standard can, it makes the bike a bit of a sleeper.  I did try an aftermarket can, which made a good sound, but even though it was supposed to be a straight retro fit, without the need to be re-mapped, I found that it messed up the tuning on my GTR giving me lumpy and jerky running at small throttle openings and it also reduced the power of the shove you get when the VVT kicks in.  It may have given a bit more power at the very top end, but for me, the midrange grunt was less.  The bike also felt really solid and well engineered with the standard can, so, rather than getting a re-map, I decided to put the standard can back on.

Don't know if anyone else had had any experiences like this?

We went to the bike show last year, but were so disgusted by the parking prices that we parked at a small nearby train station and got the train for one stop to the NEC.  Saved quite a bit but we still got robbed as we went in! :mfr_lol:

Ok, I'm jealous of all these massive horns!  I'm going to have to do something with mine as it is so pathetic I daren't even use it!!
Massive bike- tiny horn!

I have the EBC front discs and pads on mine.  Only done about 1000 miles with them on so too early to say if I'll warp em, but they certainly stop the bike well!

Very decent of you, thanks.  Funny how people go down the same route with the mods!  I remember with the GS screen, once you found the givi aero AF330 the search was over.

Great!  I think I may have to order one of those Delkevic cans, sound really good value.

Screen wise I was fancying trying the laminar lip as I currently have the Calsci tall and wide.  Yep, it works, raise it most of the way up and the buffeting goes, but that's not the end of the story; It is massive. You get hot behind it in summer, its so big on full lock it crushes your hands against the levers, it works like a sail in strong winds and it is probably going to tear right off at some point!  Oh and IMHO looks a bit rubbish on the bike.

So, thought I might give the laminar a go!

Brilliant! thanks for the tips.  I'm definitely going to play around with tyre choices and based on what's been said I've just tried reducing the preload on the rear spring a few clicks which has definitely made it a little better.
Thanks again!
