Hi All,

I'm having a bit of an issue with screens, which is in danger of sending me mad and emptying my bank account......

The screen that came on the bike (std Kawasaki) was terrible for buffeting at speed, so I changed to a longer screen with a flip up that the last owner included in the sale. The longer screen was good for wind noise but still had quite a lot of buffeting unless I ducked my head a couple of inches. This was starting to give me a hunch so I got hold of a MRA Vario which still does it (but not as badly), no matter where I adjust the spoiler.

I'm 6' tall and need to know if there's a screen out there that'll let me travel at speed in comfort without looking like Quasimodo.....

For info, my last bike was a ZX9R with a double bubble and although there was a lot of wind blowing over my upper body it was a lot smoother and more comfortable

I swapped the standard screen for a Puig touring screen. Infinitely better, but I still have to duck slightly to avoid wind blast on the old skid lid. But I am 6'4" so not sure any screen would solve the problem for me entirely.

Cheers

Took me Calsci extra wide off when I swapped helmets recently, if you want to try it pop up to Shropshire and try it for an hour!
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

i had 5 screens on my GTR and its all about size, forget the laminar lip and the wind tunnel designs, the only one that really works is the calsci XL .

as the americans say " no substitute for cubes "

stock, vario, vario touring, Puig and then the calsci ,

Try a short screen , you do not get buffeting or the flapping noise , just even wind pressure, if it rains heavy I just up the screen ,  you don't have these problems on naked bikes , it's only at high speed where the wind pressure gets to much ,

I use the std (2010 - slightly taller) screen on it's lowest setting. Only ever put it up if it rains.

My head is in the wind. The only thing I'd like is a wider screen in the winter to keep a little more cold air off my arms/shoulders.

I've never understood this desire to ride in some sort of wind free bubble (I've a car for that). On the Pan I did the same, screen down most of the time (a lot the issues/comments you see about the 'Pan weave' are down to people riding with sail up).

I use the calsci xl wide. Looks like barn door but works. Suspect puts more strain on the brackets though but no prob yet.

Have a look at Eagle screens from Australia.  They come in various sizes and tints.  I had a custom one made up to 605 mm and it keeps me dry whilst offering little buffering.  I'm 6 ft 3 ins tall and it suits me done to the ground.
Their website is worth checking out.

Has anyone tried the new standard screen on the 2015 bike? I am intrigued about the effect that the window in the middle will have and whether it will help.

Yep.....I have it OEM fitted to my bike

It's larger and wider at the top and has 'letter box' type vent in the front to reduce buffeting, KHI  quote says :-

"A vent added to the electronically adjustable windscreen reduces load on the rider by letting external air enter the cockpit area. With the vent open, the negative-pressure effect in the cockpit is reduced. This means less chance of the rider being pulled forward at high speed."

I haven't really put it to the test yet, but will be trying it out tomorrow when I'll be having a brew with me old e mate at Kawasaki Autorama ......oh and getting the bike serviced  :mfr_lol:

On a previous GTR I fitted a Laminar Lip and it was good...............however I, like others, prefer not to ride within a cocooned environment

I have a Standard 2010 taller screen, a Calsci extra tall and wide and a laminar lip.  But do you know what for me outperforms all of them?  The spoiler off my Givi airflow AF330 which I've fitted to the standard 2010 screen! :mfr_lol:
I serviced the front bush on the electric screen mechanism to take any play out of it first mind.
