Hi folks looking for some assistance.
I am away at the moment down near seaton.
And my GTR has suddenly starting making a grinding noise when you pull the clutch in to the bit point it’s really loud in first , second not so bad downshifting from higher gears as you are quicker.
Any help much appreciated as not due back till next week
Sounds like you've had a clutch friction plate disintegrate.
I'd recommend finding a local Kawi dealer or good independant and get it checked.
Thanks for that boomer I will try to arrange something I'm not due back till around Wednesday or Thursday 👍

Hi boomer . I took the bike into Bournemouth Kawasaki the mechanic had a listen and thought it may be the push rod sticking or the bearing as you thought which is why it's making the noise and giving me a false neutral reading so it looks like a clutch stripdown and repair when back home :censored: :censored:
Thanks boomer 👍
Sorry, I've been there. Had to replace mine at 60k and it's still not right.

My extended warranty finished end of 2018 and with not being able to use properly due to commitments it's only covered 7000+ :censored: :censored:
Still worth contacting Kawasaki they might be helpful.

spoke too two dealers Bournemouth and my local dealer Cradley Kawasaki.
Both have said unusual they haven't come across it but both think it's the push rod spinning dropping it off Friday on my return.
Did you get your bike fixed ok?

Hi PRD.
Cradley kawasaki phoned me yesterday.
They drained strip the clutch oil was debris free and no sign of any noticeable damage or problem.
4 hrs labour :censored: to strip and rebuild they are phoning Kawasaki Tuesday due to bank holiday.
Hopefully they can shed some light if not they are wondering about gearbox I'm astounded 64 plate with 7000 miles so hopefully Kawasaki can suggest something
Let's hope Kawasaki are helpful. Keep us posted.

I will 👍
Latest update Cradley kawasaki phoned Kawasaki motors yesterday.
They explained the problem and there main engineer gave them a short list of things to check in the clutch they didn't go into much detail with me but it's things like reseating the bearings. So awaiting news when done and hopefully sorted
Good. Wonder if k might help with cost as 7k not much.
Hi All latest update.
Had a phone call today from Cradley kawasaki.
Bike is running quietly again a thorough road test no noise 👌.
Basically they told me the kawasaki main engineer told them to strip clean and rebuild the clutch.
They said some of the plates inside are torqued and locknuted they think one may not have been torqued incorrectly and came loose and the rubbing noise would be exaggerated inside the clutch hence all the grinding noise .
So hopefully all is good I will collect Friday and give her a good blast 👌.
They are phoning the main kawasaki man tomorrow regarding a goodwill gesture. I will let you know if they do anything 👍.
I hate predictive text sent before checking noticed torqued correctly should be torqued incorrectly 🤬
Good news. I hope the goodwill gesture comes off.
The latest information sorry it's late . Not a happy bunny 🐰 Kawasaki knocked off 1 and 1/2 hours labour from the clutch strip and rebuild I payed £250 £41 parts approx £40 vat the balance was labour.
I said I could understand if it had done x10 the mileage but a 64 plate with 7000 miles on .
When I questioned this I stated if what they said was true that a part was not torqued correctly or loose the surely this is a manufacturing fault or a problem with a faulty part so why should I pay £250 out ?. Kawasaki customer service said they sympathised with the problem there wasn't a manufacturing problem and the information they supplied to Cradley Kawasaki had quickened up the repair process and saved further labour. And my enterprise crash frames had hindered the process so it had taken longer and I had accepted the goodwill gesture.
I won't waste my time and breath with them :censored: :censored: :censored:
I was in love with this bike till know after this experience with Kawasaki customer service I'm unsure what the future holds for me and Kawasaki. One very annoyed owner
That's a disappointing outcome and attitude from Kawasaki. You shouldn't have had to pay anything for that with only 7000 on the clock.

My thoughts exactly especially as the extended warranty only run out September last year.
They just keep making lame excuses really annoyed me .
I hope you paid on your credit card Pross. If you have, then I'd put in a complaint to them along with the report about the clutch not being torqued correctly. Maybe they'd fight your case, as this would have been a fault from new.

Yep you need to pursue this it is not good enough.
That's the problem with warranties.............. they eventually expire
Hi all latest disgusting update.
Dear Mr Prosser,
Thank you for your further email communication.
As already stated, our offer of goodwill, which was made in good faith and without prejudice was agreed to at the time of repair and as such was agreed as a final settlement of the issue.
Kind regards,

This was the final email.
They are saying I signed the goodwill offer full stop.
I have phoned and told them this wasn't explained it was an offer to be excepted or not.
I signed the paper work to get the bike back . They said I should have paid in full then argued about the level of goodwill to be reimbursed if any .
So bear in mind if having anything wrong with your bike and go through customer service.
Good will contributions are just that they are a gesture
It's unfortunate that your warranty expired some 9 months ago, but sadly that's how it works in that situation
I would accept the goodwill offer as that may be your best bet
A Warranty is helpful but not the decisive fact. Depending on how far you are prepared to take this and how committed you are to seeing it through, there are ways you can progress this. I helped a fellow GTR member out a while ago in a similar dispute with the dealer and he ended up getting the work done free of charge.
Trouble is with main dealers .. once you start a dispute with them over cost they are then not helpful when your next problem arises ...
if you have not experienced Mitsubishi ,Suzuki or Harley errrrm aftercare once you've complained about shoddy warranty / servicing work then believe me its not worth complaining .. just pay up and take the hit , bad I know but no-one in corporations really give 2 hoots if 1 person is not satisfied .... I hate it if I cant fix something myself .

That is a bit of a generalisation which may be true in some cases, personally I have had cause to complain once or twice to a main/franchised dealer and on each occasion managed to get a result to my satisfaction, much depends on 'how' you handle your complaint

I agree totally with you both. Just greatly disappointed with some of Kawasaki's personnel.
Now the drive train paint is bubbling and flaking off :censored: :censored:

You really ought to be contacting Kawasaki directly in writing and calmly but firmly informing them that they need to resolve your issues.
