Looking for help on my Rad please.
The fins are fairly bent over and looking nasty. The rad is watertight and no loss of coolant on a June trip in Italy at a fast pace - 37 degrees outside temp and the bike was on 3 bars on the temp gauge all of it but it was HOT!!
Am I being unduly cautious? Are they all like it?
I've seen the fender extensions but as mine never had one and it's a 2010 bike it's a bit like polishing a turd to add one now?
Do I re-core it? Buy a foreign copy? Anyone bought a copy and had good results?
Used genuine ones on eBay £250+ and look no better than mine
Cheers
Stoli
Take it to a radiator repair specialist who should be able to pressure test it and advise on condition of fins etc. He may be able to recore it if required.
Buy a black R&G radiator cover and forget about it

:agree: If the cooling fan is cutting in and out then all is good.
I'm with the view that if its working then don't fix it ....Add a Radiator Guard
This might be of some use

Good for you John, do what you want it's your bike after all
Radiator fins are quite easy to straighten up, just as they are easily distorted by water leaving your front tyre at high speed. I'd always suggest a radiator protector but before you fit one try to straighten the fins back into line, they won't go perfectly as they will have stretched slightly, just try to create a good open air path. I use a plastic knife which I trimmed down to it's more meaty handle, created a blunt chisel type tip first by sharpening up then heating it up and rounding it off. It now resembles some film style prison impliment to hurt someone....just blunt, certainly does the job though.

Can report the sealy rad tool is of no use at all. Just bent the fins I tried. GTR rad spacing far too small to get the tool fins between the rad fins
Bottoms. Back to square one
That's a bugger John, but worth a try anyway
