Title: Good for your Boots ... and other stuff !
Post by: Rusty on June 28, 2011, 11:53:39 PM
There has, and there always will be at this time of year been some really wet weather about to test all our kit in one way or another ... well I just thought I would promote this stuff, which I have been putting on my boots for years ...(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/photo-1.jpg)
I imagine it's just the same as Dubbin or Nickwax etc but it really has been very good. I first came across it when it was supplied by ALTBERG in a new pair of motorcycle boots and have used it ever since. Just rub it in with a soft cloth, no need to polish and away you go.
A few days ago in some very heavy rain I was the only one in a group of 9 that came through the morning with dry feet ...  ;D
Just wanted to let you all know of this great stuff !

You can get it from Alt-Berg Boots - http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/ledergris.jsp (http://www.altberg.co.uk/Web/ledergris.jsp)
I would also recommend this stuff and its the Green Tin you want

I can honestly say I've never used anything like that on my bike boots, in fact I've never protected them with anything, I feel ashamed now and dirty ;D

I had a bad episode once after polishing my work boots, apparantly you dont polish PSU boots cause polish is flammable and when you get petrol bombed as you do during the training your boots tend to catch fire, as mine did ;D Oops!

Back on topic - Leder Gris is superb stuff.  It will 'bull' up too (used it for my boots for the G20 and they looked good)

Never had my Alt-Bergs leak - would recommend the boots as well as the polish!

Respect to you then for not having a TV. A refreshing stance in today's society.  8)

We had to turn up with highly polished boots & immaculate combat kit for anti-riot training, get allsorts of crap thrown at us (including small petrol bombs), then get cleaned up for the next session the next day. No-one told us the polish was flamable! I doubt that the polish would matter that much, given that your boots were soaked in (burning) petrol.

On a good note; we did get our turn as part of the rioting crowd, chucking the crap was far better than receiving it  ;D

Well, from my experience that isn't at all different from "real" riots. ;)
Only there the guys that get crap thrown at them by their colleagues use that as an excuse to beat the crap out of peaceful protesters. >:(
