I drink GlenLivet, both 10 and 15 year versions and like it very much (15 is better than 10). I decided to try another brand called Talisker (10 year more expensive than Glenlivet 10 and it was in a nice blue box). It was so awful I nearly spit it out. Made by the sea it says. I can quite imagine it was made out of sea water. Anyone else like that and what's a good Scotch to drink besides GlenLivet? I want to broaden my horizons.
Tallisker, on the isle of Skye. Been there, sampled and bought the produce. Very nice it is too. Shame on you for disrespecting our plonk! :mfr_lol:
You know it smells like Scotch with some sort of after taste that's God awful... I really wanted to like it considering how much I spent on it. Maybe I'll just have to drink more of it in one sitting and it will grow on me.

Either that or you'll get to a point where you just don't care what it tastes like!
I'm currently sampling Cardhu gold reserve, and very nice it is too! Rich and mellow, with warm notes of baked apple and toffee.... it says on the box.... I just think it tastes nice!

I prefer the peaty single malts, Jura being a big favourite, but I'm not really a Whiskey drinker.
Gimme a nice Pastis and I'm happy.
Bushmills black is a nice Irish

Sounds like you need to avoid the island malts and those that are the smokie peaty ones.
I like Knockando but try any of the speyside and lowland malts
Try this guide.........

I have tried inchgower single malt very very nice.
A bit pricey though
I've said it before Jim, this is the only Whiskey (note the spelling ) for me, hopefully you will be able to source it in the States.

I'll have to see if they have it over here.
Triple blending makes for a smooth drink, the only thing you will need to add ......is another :mfr_lol:
That's the way I like it....straight up. If you have to mix it with something else......what's the point?
Best whisky I ever tasted was Japanese
I do like Saki.
Typically Japanese, they are now making some of the best malts in the world.....just like their motorcycles....oh yes and their cars, where did we go wrong :mfr_lol:

I'm not into blended whisky............but single malts are like nectar of the gods once you find a few that you like .................hence trying to have a couple of different bottles in the drinks cupboard to fit the mood of the moment
Boomers tastes (from what he's said earlier)are the other end of the taste scale to mine which is the beauty of the drink that it can be so different. I find I can handle that dark peaty iodine after taste once I've consumed 5 or 6 glasses and don't really care any more :mfr_lol:
Yet the lighter malts proved such contrast to the rich rhumbustness of the isle malts.
True whisky magic :punk:
I'm rather partial to a pint of fosters. The Amber nectar.

:agree:, but have you seen the price of the best Japanese malts ? you could put an awful lot of Sparkles and Farkles on the GTR....or the K16 if you are on the dark side :mfr_lol:

I can usually stomach anything with alcohol except for Gin. Got overdosed on it during my early 20's. I blame it all on my father-in-law.

Time for more Scotch.... Someone has to drink it, might as well be me. I'm starting to like this new brand.
Time for a change up.... On to Vodka martinis. Tropical storm hitting us now...

Love G&T ...............best served by the pint 🍺
Gin <shudder>
One night in 1979 we ran out of mixers so I actually tried Gin and Milk. Just,...... NO!!!
Was sick for 2 days and every heave reeked of Gin.
To be fair I was :censored: slaughtered before we even started on the Gin. :punk:
To me Gin and vomit are now inextricably linked.
Once drank a litre of Pastis in one evening and the sick was almost pleasant. :punk:
Yes, I have since learned my limits and rarely drink much these days. :surrender:
:mfr_lol:
Vodka and milk  So Gin and milk ................understand your thought process on this one. The raw milk would make me reach .........just makes me want to puke...........they used to try and force me to drink it at school
Milk and any form of alcohol makes me shudder.. It's unnatural and should be outlawed.

Hi Charlie,
I only discovered that I am free at the weekend a day or so ago, but I thought it might be a bit late in the day or cheeky to put myself down for coming along. That said, it would be nice to meet some of you guys and on reflection I will show up for a chat or a ride out.

After a long day in the saddle, working in the garden or manning the BBQ not really a lot that can beat a good cold one for refreshment, be the amber larger or cider (or a combination if you so wish! ).

Sadly, it's been pointed out that my stomach is getting overly large so I've decided to go on a diet. I will only drink beer on the weekends instead of during the week and Scotch Monday thru Friday. Scotch has about 65 calories per serving verses beer that has twice or more calories. Wish me luck. I call this the Scotch diet.

time then to hop on the scales Jim, and thenweigh yourself again after each week.
Oh BTW, make sure your stock of Scotch is plentiful :mfr_lol:

The whole point of my Scotch diet is to lose weight, you silly man, you. This increases it substantially, unfortunately.
Well, I started off about 222 this past Sunday and am now down to 216 which seems a bit drastic for stopping drinking beer on the weekdays. I have cut down my food intake and carbs as well, but 6 pounds in less than a week? I have one nice glass of Scotch every night.
Weight loss resulting from dieting often sees a larger initial loss Jim, after about two years the loss will probably have slowed down to about a pound...................every 6 months
Don't worry, before too long you will be like a racing snake :mfr_lol:
When I first got married I was 160lbs.. It expanded from there.
