Can anyone say what they are getting from a full tank mileage wise, steady riding, motorway or touring style, on ECO mode?
Depending on my riding style, I get around 200+ on a tank. Lately I've been averaging about 48mpg and that's with a mix of 60mph to 80mph. I had a reflash done to my ECU and it helped a lot.
Just remember that Jim's gallons aren't "proper" gallons. The US ones are 16lbs whereas ours are 20lbs.
I have twice managed to get past 200 miles on a tankful, but mostly motorway miles. Last weekends run to The Lakes and back was 725 miles and averaged 57.6mpg. Was showing 60+ on the way north, but a stiff headwind pulled that back on the return leg
Not proper gallons?????? :mfr_lol:
I managed an average of 59.4mpg yesterday on mostly A roads. Dead chuffed but admit I was riding very conservatively ((first time with SWMBO on the back ))
Seems to be very capable of 200miles or more on a tank
Over the last few years I've been over to Ireland a handful of times which is a mix of motorways, A roads and some country lanes. Its been over 200 miles to a tank but thats a fully brimmed one done on the main stand

Well happy with that for what it does and how it does it, regularly 200 from a tank, best was 240!
How full your tank is makes a huge difference. If you haven't already discovered, once your tank is full, you can trickle a good few litres extra in. As long as it's slow, the fuel goes in but the level doesn't rise.
The problem is you only know it's properly full when it spills over. I keep meaning to measure how much extra goes in but never get round to it; has anyone done it?
Always look to fill when got 250 miles, model 2010
To get 250 m out of a tank how far are you in to the fuel gauge , I would need at least 30 m left to Feel ok about it or running out is a possibility , I usually fill up at 150 ,
The gauge tells me it's doing 40+ To the gallon and I fill up when the dash flashes to tell me low end of :mfr_lol:
I always keep mine topped up asap after the low fuel warning comes on (if I let it get that far). That's usually around the 200 mile mark.
I haven't reset the fuel computer and over two years the avg has sat at 53.5 mpg (real gallons  ) pretty constantly. I spend nearly all my time on B roads and some of the smaller A roads.

So you grannies better not ride with me !! :mfr_lol:
Just kidding, that was a lot of fully loaded fast riding on Tolls for half of it.........
Mine quite often said 50 +, but never got anywhere near that in reality
I fill up, reset Trip A and motor off into the sunset, I'm usually due for a top up at about 180+, I ran my 2008 GTR to 235 miles in France way back when, it was very low and just a little concerning :mfr_lol:

Long distance relaxed constant speed cruise on big A road/motorway by any chance?
I regularly see 60 to 65mpg displayed on the current reading in those conditions (which I don't do often).

It probably was although I can't honestly remember. Even on the Beemer, K1600 I can easily achieve 55-58mpg which I think is damn good for such a big heavy link. I'd rather ride smooth and steady than being up and down on the throttle.
:sleep1:
Its 400 kms in europe. Used a convertion site... So 248.5 m
Could also fill the tank up with 2 l more than indicated in manual. So it must be bigger ...
When the tank indicator flashes still can do some 80 kms the most i tried

Well I'm off to France/Belgium next weekend for a few days. It's 236 miles from home to the Tunnel so I've just cancelled our coffee break & refuel midway. First stop will now be France. I'll let you know if I make it :mfr_lol:
I'd pack a flask if I were you
I have seen 70mpg on mine but it was stationary at the time.
This is really sad - but interesting....
31700 miles, 43.32mpg, 214miles per tank on average over 3335l of fuel.
Have hit 250miles to the tank, but usually on very long boring runs.
Image attached for info..... Sorry Joined the dark (orange) side now!

I just may change my MPG to Imperial gallons and see if my mpg goes up. Always liked the word Imperial. We used to have an Imperial Docks in Norfolk, VA but that's gone now.
i like mint imperials :mfr_lol:

They didn't have Imperial Stormtroopers when I was a kid, but they did have The Mekons, arch enemies of Dan Dare
Checked today : made nice day ride in France with fresh filled tank. Filled it again after 430 kms, 21.5 liters
by my calculation that equates to 56.8 miles per gallon ....i think
In 35k kms average is still 5.0 liters/100 kms

And to come back to topic, I usually see around 160 miles to the tank-full. But then I spend most of my time screaming round the twisties so it's heavy throttle out of every corner.
Cheers

SWMBO was looking at something similar to vinyl wrapping that can be printed with your own design, then wrapped around your lid. Reckon a custom paint job would be better, and if she's paying....

Didn't check, but the countdown mileage had stopped and it was just flashing low fuel all the time. Not sure how much further it would have gone? Probably miles from the next garage!

Small tank? I think it's big enough.. I don't want to ride 230 miles without stopping for a break and fuel.
Most I've done in one hit is 180 miles/3 hours, and I my joints and bum were hurting like a bitch. I was glad to get off..

Agree totally, I always have a break after an hour or so to stretch the legs, recharge the concentration / caffeine. It would just be nice to be able to go another hour without starting to watch the fuel gauge and thinking where the next garage is :whistling:

Was that to the Belfry?
Hi All, this is my first post as only bought my 2013 GTR on May 18th with 15,300 miles on the clock. Having now done just over 3,000 miles, including a 10 day trip to the French Alps covering 2,100 miles of both motorway and alpine riding, the average MPG was 47.5 some on Eco the rest not as I kept forgetting to set it.
Hi John and welcome to the forum.

There's the usual tourer comparison article in RIDE magazine this month with amongst other things MPG stats and the tourers include the GTR and K1600. The MPG figures which have been printed are ludicrous, all I can is that for either bike they must have been thrashed to only return what was printed.

9 miles to a litre I get on average
Just under 41 mpg, about the same as mine on a daily basis. The 47 that I posted before was only achieved when on tour riding 300 to 400 mile daily runs, though consumption did increase a lot when riding around the Alps.
I get 45mpg pretty much every day.
I'm 26 stone and quite heavy handed.
My route to work is Wickford to Crawley via Edenbridge.
Route home is M23/M25/A127
Total of 57.4 + 56.9 = 114.3 miles
I fill up every day and she takes 11.5 litres.
I ride 2010 GTR and on a long run can achieve 59 - 60 mpg also have on several occasions got 260 out of tank, have run till flashes but managed 30 miles on reserve, thinking of taking a fuel can with me to see what I can actually get on reserve when starts flashing before runs dry as worth knowing if really pushed.
My last fill up was at 195 miles and she took 20.07 Litres.
Just back from 2000+ mile trip to France. Computer says average of 56 mpg. All mileage two up, many fully laden, mixture of Motorway (75 - 85), A and B roads mainly on ECO setting. Hit fuel warning once at about 210 miles which needed 19 liters to fill. Reckoned I could get 240 but wouldn't want to risk it.
I have done 400km on a tank and the warning had just come on.
There appears to be a big difference in the range on the GTR, or when the low fuel signal starts, 400Km = approx 248 miles and warning light just come on , warning light on at 210, have we all got the same size of tank :whistling:
I get an average of 45.5 mpg, and that would be predominately riding very progressively on NSL twisty rural roads. Very rarely use Motorways and only occasionally dual carriageways . I think 45.5mpg under those circumstances is excellent for a sporty 1400cc lump

To get some of these unbelievable tank ranges ,what do people do sit at 56mph for mile after mile after Boring mile , all on Eco mode , :censored: :censored: :censored: sod that :censored:Eco ,, cruise at 85 no less ,you buy a 1400 to use as its meant to be used , half the folk on here would be better off with a Honda dullsville , :mfr_lol: :biker3:

I just ride enjoy and fill up the only time I know my MPG is if I glance down to see the current MPG mode .
I don't do the type of riding where I need to see every mile I can get at around a Qtr of a tank I just fill up

My mileage improved from the mid-40s to the upper 40's after I had the ECU flashed. Increased power and better gas mileage....what's not to like?
Well with this thread in mind, I tried a reasonably accurate test today
I rode 180 miles of mixed 50% A and B roads and 50% Motorway. ECO mode turned OFF
Filled bike on centre stand to bottom of filler neck both before and after.
I did 180 miles on 15.5 litres, which makes 255 miles on a 22 litre tankful [ handbook states 22 litres capacity]
My trip meter reading added to my range reading was always about 240 to 250 miles.
Just done 2500 mile in France computer says 50.6mpg average. Two up all the time pretty well loaded.Mainly 90mph on way down and back and a bit more relaxed rural riding when there.A lot better than my old FJR with similar loadings and speeds.

Call me Cynical but was Fuel Economy Assistance Mode on the Gen2 bikes an admission they made a mistake?
Hmm not a cheap option (& possibly counter productive cost wise) but would a PCV with a map siwtch be a good option for a Gen1 bike?
