Title: Insurance renewal.
Post by: GTRpilot on January 28, 2016, 11:24:28 AM
£182 with Ageiss, through Adelaide Insurance, fully comp, protected NCB, £350 excess, rider 50's no accidents, riding for many years, social, domestic and pleasure only.
Comparable? Or is there better out there?

MCE maybe cheaper but their excess is £750, and I've heard that some claims have been a nightmare to get sorted as their underwriters are not in the UK..

I have tried different places to get quotes, and the two places that canot be beat for quotes are compare the market ,and go compare ,  I pay £83 fully comp , £93 for my Ktm 990 , and £200 for the Ktm 1050 , tried getting multi bike and it worked out a lot more , once the no claims builds up on the 1050 it should drop down ,   Having separate policy's is probley better for me as I can shop about for the best deal ,  I always go for the cheapest deal just hope I ever have to claim ,  :biker3:

I just got my renewal for fully comp with business cover from Bennetts for £103.  I use Compare the Market to check and it's pretty competitive with all of the players coming up with very low prices.

I also have my insurance through Adelaide and they seem to offer a good deal. The £182 quote seems very reasonable.

Here are the top ones. My renewal was cheaper though but I did initially find Bennetts policy on Compare the Market so maybe they know to keep it low.

Having low insurance does make me feel old; I remember the £3,500 bill for insuring my ZXR750 as a young Army Officer in Germany :-)

I'm with MCEand pay about £183.00,

TBH I find dealing with insurance companies when getting quotesetc to be a right PITA

There must be substantial differences in quotes for the same bike when comparing postcodes up ad down tbe country

I paid £82 last year with bennets, fully comp , 9 years NCD ,  50 years old and manchester postcode

I didnt have protected NCD, no legals and no breakdown cover. A few others on here had a similair price with bennets. a few years back bennets were the most expensive with quotes at £1000 plus when others were sub £200.
Bennets are obviuoulsy trying to rebuild their market share

£84 with bennets, Fully Comp, Protected NCB included . No breakdown, got that through my bank, no legals, not sure if they are worth paying for anyway.

• Legal Expenses
• RAC Breakdown EU which includes homestart, E.U. and UK recovery, roadside assist and onward travel.
• Personal Accident
• Helmets & Leathers

I thought it was a pretty good package

Is the protected no claims only any good with that company , if you go elsewhere and they ask if you have claimed then they will load you accordingly , but if you stay with the same company then you usually find that the next quote off them is a lot more , protected nc is only any good if you can get similar quote off them the  next time if you have made a claim ,  :biker3:

I use The Bike Insurer to compare quotes and usually find I alternate between swinton and bennetts each time. There is no advantage for being loyal these days. Its worth doing a search with a high excess then trying again with zero voluntary excess.... sometimes it makes little difference to the quote.

No loyalty here, I shop around each year and play them off against each other, it's a corrupt system.  :nono:

It always annoys me when they write and tell you that the renewal is the best price and then you shop around get better quotes and all of a sudden they can match them.  They just take the p*ss and hope
To get away with it.

Been there on a few occasions with Churchill on the car, get the renewal through, go on the "compares", and guess what - Churchill are listed with a cheaper quote same terms!  :gun_bandana:
And you always get the ever helpful agent who'll allow you his "staff discount" As mentioned above......loyalty?
And whilst on insurance.................
Brother in law parked overnight in Stockholm, fairly new K1200RT, locked helmet and gloves in the top box overnight.
Got ready to ride off the following morning, top-box (Genuine BMW) gone, no damage or signs of force.
Never mind thinks he - helmet and leather insurance cover on CN policy.
So, comes to claim - Topbox - claim allowed as detailed as accessory on policy.
Helmet and gloves - cover is for accident damage only at time of accident - not covered for theft!
Lets go back 200 years......like highwaymen - they'd hang for daylight robbery!

"Small print" hides many loopholes methinks  :hammer:

I would imagine that a genuine replacement BMW top box and helmet plus whatever else would have been an expensive exercise too

Bennetts just did it for me!
As Burchy, £84 which included cover for non-standard top box and crash protection!
52 years young ( :punk:) 9 years NCB, 1 accident - non-fault, couldn't get near it elsewhere.
Bought the EU breakdown package as well as with all other benefits again, couldn't get near it!
think this is the only bonus of maturity in years!
