Looking at the K1600 as probably next year will be due a change as I should have done 20k on the GTR by then.
Can you confirm are there any specific differences between the GT and the GTL Executive. Visually the GTL has the back box with passenger armrests as not too keen on that myself, (so that would come off and be stored in the garage) but from what I can tell the GTL has lots of extras above the GT. Can you confirm as I am sure you did lots of research when you were looking at buying one.
Winston is probably a better person than I to expand on this however my K1600 came with virtually every accessory available apart from a top box and spot lights, both of which I can live without. I was pretty lucky finding my K16 with all it's accessories and at the price it was. I did some research but not a lot to be honest, I knew what I wanted, I found it pretty quickly so snapped it up.
The GTL as I understand it is a different riding position, more Goldwing possibly, the GT is a sporty machine and is so easy to ride it's unbelievable.
I suggest you look at Motorrads website for the full differences.
Basic difference between GT/GTL is the riding position.
GTL has lower footrests, lower one piece (opposed to 2 piece) saddle, longer handle bars to bring them closer to you.
Additionally it has a top box and different screen. GTL has chrome detailing on fairing, panniers, air winglets, screen covers and bar ends.
All other 'toys' are available on both models, with cruise control, heated grips and seats being common to both.
GT and GTL, albeit sharing same chassis, engine, gearbox etc. ride completely differently due to seating position.
If you like sporty, go for GT (no top box anyway!) with the radio/sat-nav option.
The GTL Exclusive is very similar to the GTL, but comes in a pearl white colour with a beige saddle and plastics.
Also has keyless technology and a few other bits and pieces.
Early days ...........
Am due a long :scooter: ride out early next week and will report back once I've coordinated my thoughts.

It would be a sad place indeed, Charlie, if you weren't here.
Charlie & I did a reasonable 400 mile excursion yesterday around The Cotswolds. Photos were taken and this is one, it's only a quick sample but it just shows the bikes off reasonably well.

Ok I've done about 700 miles on the K16..................
GTR
Fast
Fun
Raw
Sharp
Good looking
Precise high speed stability
Top end rush
Acceptable quality for price
K16
Comfy
Soft
Engine for torque
Vage high speed stability (GTL variants restricted to approx 135 mph)
Transmission has no place on a motorcycle let alone one of this price
Bells & whistles do not make up for poor basic spec. On a bike just shy of £20k new not even got span adjustable levers
Am I disappointed........No I went in with my eyes open.
But you have 2 bikes the same ......sport tourers!
They may clam to wear the same badge but they are 2 very different rides
K16. Easy to ride, comfy, effortless. South of France in the morning.....no prob
GTR. Rewards for your effort and focus with near sports bikes thrills but with the practicality of getting your curry home in one piece
Just don't expect the K16 to give you raw naked trills like the GTR. It's playing the soft long game.
Now where do I get loud cans for a K16 ? :mfr_lol:
GTR's rule. Yeah

Nice and too the point Bro.
Just enjoy and keep updating us :punk: :punk:
Thanks Charlie....and a nice concise report.
It goes to show that Journalists can pen whatever reports they like, many of which are instrumental in helping us through a new bike purchasing decision, but such reports are often based on short term association with said machine.
The real place to get an unbiased consumer based report is a relevant forum where the 'warts an all' truth tends to come to the surface.
I always have, and suspect I always will rely on an extended road test of a potential new machine to help me decide whether or not that machine/bike is the one for me to live with, even this policy can prove to be misleading and problematic, TBH which of us has never bought a bike that after a while hasn't completely lived up to our expectations.
There's a saying which goes something like " you can please all the people some of the time, you can please some people all the time, but it's difficult to please all the people all the time"
Good luck with the K16 Charlie (and Wolf) I'm sure that you will both enjoy your respective bikes enormously
Well here's my report on the K16 from the point of view that I perhaps don't analyse bikes with such scrutiny as Sir Charles!
It's bloody great!
Would it be fair to say that the BMW is a tad over priced for what it is.

Yes if you buy new but no if you buy used and get a cracking deal like I did. I got mine at virtually half price with all the toys, it even came with a BMW sat nav.
I think that is the way to do it buying them second hand. But what a lot of depreciation for the first owner.

I got lucky when I found it. The bike had only done 3500 miles and from the service history which came with it one year it had only done 57 miles. The previous owner had multiple bikes apparently and bought this bike to do a trip to Spain. Nice when you can do that eh?

And a ££ord that level of depreciation

That's why I went low mileage used. Still has 6 months factory warranty
So glad I've got the choice of 2 great rides :punk:
