Title: Handle Bar Risers
Post by: markmacd on March 14, 2015, 02:33:25 PM
Looking into Handle bar risers. Most that I have come across are 2 inch risers by Helibars. Have any of you guys / gals fitted and have you had any problems with them during or after fitting.  Is anyone selling a pair ?

standard risers come in at around £90 but seen some with built in ram mount and additional power outlet also that cost quite a bit more.

Comments appreciated

ive got the 2 inch risers , make a small but nice difference, pushes the bars up and slightly nearer to you .

I did fab something up as a trial if I can find a picture, it consisted of 3 long bolts and some spacers.

the cables will all stretch with no issues , might just have to relax a cable tie here and there , from memory you might need to unbolt your brake pipe union

Thanks, I purchased the GTR in Sept, but only did a few hundred miles and then Job changed so parked it up till just recently. This new job I will be doing quite a few work miles, so getting a wish list of mods. I had a 170 mile round trip the other day and thnk definitely need risers as the reaching over did feel quite uncomfortable. Where possible just rode 1 handed and sat up straight and was fine. Risers, Tank protector and Rear Hugger are my immediate priorities I think.

I bought this 2 inch block of aluminium off ebay , you could always drill the holes and use a grinder and a vice to fashion it into a respectable shape. Ali is very soft and easy to work with

It's not just a question though of postage charges, you have to factor in, suitable packaging, insurance, signed for service, petrol, your time  etc. It all adds up, it's not me selling them before you ask but postage charges these days are ridiculous. I sell a few bits on Ebay from time to time and believe you me it's not as profitable as it used to be!

I use Hermes to send items I sell on eBay ,you can send a bike seat for £6 deliverd ,even bike exhausts are only up to £10 to send , to send two small lightweight items for £9 is a rip off, read his feedback and somebody else has moaned about the postage he has charged , looking at the prices for risers for the gtr a lot of them seem to be in the USA and are a lot cheaper than here even with postage,,,, :biker3:

If I remember Add them to basket then go to checkout and it will estimate shipping costs.I don't think they add import duties though.

As wildybeast says put in the basket select UK put your postcode in and it generates the delivery charge. When I did it the risers were $ 80 dollars and 40 odd delivery
( this was on the site zeberdee mentioned )

don't forget to factor in your import duties, Vat at 20% , import duty and royal mail handling fee, about 30% covers it . Every now and then I get a parcel that has managed to evade import duties but 9/10 do attract it
