Title: What type of bird is this please.
Post by: Lonewolf on April 13, 2013, 12:05:44 AM
What is this, is it a pigeon or something?
It's going to get killed by my dog if its not too careful, it keeps landing about a foot in front of the dogs nose and there's been some very close shaves. It has a green ring on one of its legs, does anyone know why?

If its a racing pigeon does anyone know how I can trace its owner, its been trespassing in the Wolfs garden about a week now and it has to go or it'll only end in tears and a lot of flying feathers.

Looks like a scruffy white pigeon suffering from malnutrition and a bad back...

Hmm, well the inevitable happened this morning. I got back from a short bike ride today to be summonsed to the back garden to assist Mrs Wolf in removing said Dove/Pigeon from the mouth of my devil dog.

The aforementioned devil dog was just sat there pleased as punch refusing to release its trophy which it had been gripping for a good 20 minutes despite the best efforts of my other half, Mrs Wolf who I hasten to add was disgusted at the dogs behaviour.

Poor little thing, at least it was probably a quick kill. We are now going to get the devil dog a bell so he can be the laughing stock of all the neighbourhood cats.

Winston, yeah I hear you loud and clear but the poor little thing is dead. My wife's still not talking to the dog and she keeps referring to it as a murderer!

Maybe the dove had just had enough of this crazy world, after all, it can't ride bikes can it?

Perhaps it was a suicide by dog type of thing?!?

obviously the bird didn't like the number 13 either - although lucky for the dog...

Joking apart it was still a lovely bird and one of God's creatures and it's a terrible shame that it met it's demise in my garden while it was minding it's own business eating some mealworms. I need to try and trace it's owner from the ring on it's leg and deliver the sad news.

Pan fry the breasts, and a bit of stuffing, wrap in puff pastry! Dove Wellington...

A much more regal end for the little fella!
