Neah......but you are on the right track Chris
I think that's enough teasing.
the story is that I have wanted a Brit Iron Bike for many years, its an itch that I had and it needed scratching, but its taken years of drooling, wishing, wanting, deliberating and saving until I was in a position to make a decision.
For me the desire for a British classic bike started back in the 60s watching mates who had left school the year before turning up at the school gates on all sorts of bikes, that image has never left me, and I well recall the noise that a British twin made with its unrestricted cut back pipes, and the way it looked with clip on's or ace bars.
So some months ago the search began for my dream bike, and I very much wanted one of these a BSA Rocket Gold Star...however they are a pig to live with, aren't easy to ride and cost the best part of 15 grand, so that was a no no.
So I took a reality check and began to look at other options, of which this is one, a BSA A10, which is very nice but didn't really tick all my boxes
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/bsa_super_rocket_1959_zpse0159a83.jpg)
So I then turned my focus to a Norton Dominator 650 SS like this, but its a heavy bike and I didn't feel that I wanted that, plus they are expensive and difficult to find in the right condition/price bracket
(http://i336.photobucket.com/albums/n326/oldeconey/650SS-DOMINATOR_zps2935742b.jpg)
My attention then shifted to a different marque, and it became obvious that I was getting closer to my target bike, this time a Triumph T110, which I think is absolutely stunning, but again difficult to find at the right price, as values are most definitely going up, as these bikes do represent a great future investment, this one is a 1956 pre-unit model....god its beautiful (well I think so)
So................ what have I settled on, well its a Triumph,.....no not a Bonneville as I cant afford one of those as they cost about £9K for a good example, but a Triumph Trophy TR6, which ticks the boxes and I think is a lovely looking bike, it will be an easier bike to ride and should give me years of pleasure without too much pain physically or financially, its a 650cc and looks a bit like this one with the twin leading shoe front brake, the bike produces a massive 42 bhp @ 6,500 rpm so it has more low down grunt than peaky top end performance
It'll be into the new year before the bike arrives and TBH I can't :censored: wait :mfr_lol:
ice choice of bike Rog. The T110 brings back some memories, bought one the same back in 1964, paid an old falla (prob the same age as me now) £35 for it. Wished I still had it & the old Speed win sprung hub that I paid £5 to a mate. Hope you enjoy it, at least you wont need to slip the clutch for the first 50 yards like you would on the Goldie.
Congrats OC. Better get working on that exercise bike to build your strength back up, as you will know it when that :censored: kicks back!
You could ave had one of me tiggers! Granted they're not of the old variety but I would have straight swapped one for any KH you have standing around :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Happy Xmas Mate!
Ah yes, I'm sure you will have a lot of fun on one of those Rog, many moons ago a mate of mine had one, very nippy, and sounded really nice, hes had siamese pipes. Size wise the Triumph will feel like a moped compared to the GTR. Let us know when it's here and if it ok with you I'll pop up to your gaf and give it a good eyeballing.
OC, how do the panniers and sat nav attach?
Nice Roger. Not my cuppa tea tbh, but I would love something like that for Sundays out.

Ah those were the days, I actually owned a 1960 Gold flash, I remember it being a lovely thing to ride. It got nicked from a biker cafe in Oldham (The ranch) and I never saw it again, furthermore it was only insured third party, so I never got paid out on the insurance. I still have the buff log book for the bike.
OC, it looks fine with panniers.
The deed is done !
However my aspirations of buying a Triumph have not materialised, as I simply couldn't find on e at a price that I could justify, and I have tried a couple out for size, and TBH a bigger bike is better for me. Triumphs are really are rocketing (excuse the pun) in price, maybe if I can afford one day I'll get a Bonny.
So I've settled on the plan 'B' machine which is still a stunner but is more affordable and will still do the job for me....its a BSA A10...geoff will be getting all dewy eyed at this point :mfr_lol:
