Hi all,
After standing around looking confused for a while I have traded my unruly GS for a green GTR 2011 - thanks to Martin for your time, help and patience.
Really like the look of the colour, but it's green and runs in the cold, so what else could I call her?
Doing the swap on 29th Sept, when I get back from a trip round Brittany & Normandy, then I shall absorb all your sage advice, as long as it's not to get stuffed :ohplease:
I live between Newbury and Wantage, in Berkshire, and hail from Bristol, so +1 for the southerners.
Geoff
Welcome Bumpkin, roll on the 29th eh? You won't be disappointed in your choice of new bike.
good to have you as a member of the Asylum Bumpkin
You Will love your GTR
and you WON'T miss the GS
Beleive me I know :mfr_lol:
Thanks Guys,
Tried the Explorer on the way here, and it's the perfect bike for me....... on paper, and it's a great bike, but have to agree with Bryn, the pedals are a little too far forward, so makes you sit really heavily on your coccyx which not only felt like it was going to hurt, but also made me feel uninvolved with the front wheel.
Every time I got on the GTR my grin got a little wider, so pretty confident I'm going to enjoy this :)
Mr Bumpkin.. welcome to the madhouse forum  see you have the second best colour gtr  hope to see you on our 2013 gtr meet  p.s don't forget to bring your panniers thou! or you may be "wolferised" not as bad as it sounds thou :nono: his howl is worse then his bite :mfr_lol:
Dave, Kawasaki went to the trouble of fitting panniers to the bike so it's only right to use them. :mfr_lol:

Good luck...I don't fancy your chances though :mfr_lol:
Having a couple of hounds I get all the howling I can handle at home, so I'll definitely declare myself as 100% pannier compliant :surrender:
Panniers are for grandpas :wheelchair: and touring.
I don't want those dirty great things messing with my aerodynamics and clearance.
Now if I'm touring then I'll use them but if they're not needed, they stay at home.
And you'll never convert me, so there! :mfr_lol:

*snigger* :smartass:
Welcome Bumpkin ... this is a greta place ... enjoy the bike and the forum too ...
Geoff,
Glad you found the forum, and even better now you have the beast on the way. I had hoped borrowing mine would convince you. Your GS is a good bike, probably better than the GTR is some ways, but it does not have that Kawasaki motor.
No parking it anywhere near mine at work though - my well used, mud coloured (in more ways than one) thing will feel very insecure next to its new, shiny brother.
Stay away from the accessories section of the forum, it is bad for the wallet :mfr_lol:
Martin.
As I said Martin, you're a bad influence! :innocent:
Hi and welcome to the forum Geoff.
Enjoy the ride. Green is ok, but black is best

ArfArf,... he's soooooo funny! :whistling:
I meant clearance between cars and before someone tells you that the mirrors are wider, so what?
I just wiggle the handlebars and one mirror goes down and the other up and they both miss the car wing mirrors.
If yer a regular filterer (lanesplitter) then you'll know what I mean and you probably don't ride with the panniers fitted either.
The rest of you probably have panniers fitted and never ride in heavy traffic.
My pet hate when filtering is getting stuck behind an ST1300. :tank:
They ALWAYS have the panniers fitted as they look like they've had an accident when you remove them, and they are a slow moving bloody roadblock for the rest of us. :gun_bandana:
Ah well - seems me and the GTR never did quite gel....
Could well be the weather since I bought her as the storm last Autumn started when I ordered her, but I have now changed and got a Thunderbird Storm - for those of you who are wondering, yes, I ordered the Storm at the start of the heatwave!
As the weather spent so long being so bad I had to move to a car commute, so I've reset the expectations from my bike and gone for something easy to ride that shouts at people
Good luck all, and if you're enjoying the weather I will take sponsorship not to buy another GTR
Serves you right for buying a green one. :mfr_lol:
Enjoy the T-bird Storm.
Based on the fact that the weather got nice when you bought the T-bird, you do realise that are not allowed to sell it now,.... EVER!
