LW, how much did you have to drink?
kwarrgtr..! glad to hear your mirror stayed in place after the repair, and your foot is on the mend. there a heavy beast, so you must have a dam tuff foot. sorry.. I missed the first turn, and took the second turn  but the main thing is you where not injured  the bike can be repaired and made to look like new again, bones and flesh can't. hope you get it repaired as soon as possible and look foward to meeting you again on the next meet. p.s hope your cumbria ride goes well and the weather stays nice.
regards dave..
It was really great to meet everyone yesterday, I had a superb time. Thanks all for making so much of an effort to organise, and to trek half way across Europe to be there.
I cannot see the FB photos as I am not on there - bit of a techie dinosaur me - but if anyone has photos they are struggling to get online, feel free to email them to me ( martin @ trackandrace . com ) and I can host and share 'em.
Cheers all, and how you all made it home safely.
Martin.
well eventually made it home ,it was great to meet everyone and have such a good weekend

John, was your ferry on time and did it sail?
Excellent photos ~ and it looks like a good time was had by all
How about putting some names to the faces :goodpost:
There's plenty of photos to come yet. LW has over 200 of 'em!
home safely, thanks every one for a great weekend, was good to see some old friends and make some new ones.  looking forward to next year already
Colin
I set off early yesterday morning and made it to Eurotunnel in record time, 180 mi in 2h15 min ! LW I think at some point I was way above 85.9 mph !!
Thanks to all the organizing team , think about Spa features for next year to attract more ladies...
A special thanks to Colin, Viv and Cath for taking me around for a spin, and the nice time in Stratford.
I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all, and 1100 miles I clocked on the bike this week-end were well worth it. So long...Steph

Steph pleased to here you are home safely

Firstly I'd like to say many, many thanks to all those who attended, whether it was for the day or the weekend. I think I'm right in saying that everyone had a terrific time and hopefully it can be repeated again next year, only one little mishap and we all felt for Keith as we could all imagine what he must have felt. If only Dave had seen the 1st right turn! :whistling: .
Right time for my little :mfr_lol: contribution.
Friday morning, bright and early I set off for Lynn Ravens Cafe at Whitchurch. I'd never been before but arrived safe to see 2kwacks, (Dave) was already there having a crafty fag. He didn't look happy for some reason when I took the photo.

Plenty of memorabilia inside of classic bikes etc.

We knew the room would not be available at the Lower Lode Inn until about 3pm so we had a steady tootle down avoiding the motorways completely. Geoff would have been very impressed on that score. I think we finally arrived at the Inn about 1pm to find Frenchbiker, (Steph), Kawdolph (John) and Timstoke, (Colin) were already there. Note the twin pipes on Steph's GTR.

I cant remember the exact order people arrived in but I think Doktordave, (Dave) arrived pretty soon afterwards. From left to right, Doktordave, John & Dave.

There were quite a few people camping this year. Dave, John, Viv, Cath possibly someone else also but my memory fauls me at this late hour!
John's residence.

At the same time that we had our little get together there was also a classic bike gathering taking place.

I almost forgot to post a picture of the Lower Lode Inn. An excellent location and many thanks to 2kwacks for suggesting we meet there and to Viv for recommending the Cotswolds in the first place.

Friday evening we had a few drinks in the bar, Rossendale Rider, aka Andy & Alison attended via ferry. (more on that in a minute).

A small section of the bar. Old'e world style.

Before I forget.....the ferry, I think it was a £1 to cross the river on it. The ferryman would go back and forth until last light apparently. To the untrained eye it might look like the ferry is filling up with water, i.e. sinking, but no, thats just to keep you on your toes, perfectly safe, honest!

Timstoke, who by the way isn't callled Tim or from Stoke. Real name Colin. Colin in the middle. Other appearances by Rusty, on the left, aka Nigel & Doktordave, Dave to his mates on the right. (he insisted we call him Doktordave all weekend!)

At the bottom of the garden/grassy knowl in front of the Inn is a mooring for a few boats.

Almost forgot, the Inn plays host to a few dogs. This little chap who for some reason always looked so sad loved to pester customers all day to throw whatever was to hand. Where's that grenade? :whistling: Only joking, dont want to offend any dog lovers out there.

Keith, aka, (kwarrgtr) rolled in on the Fiday evening.

Friday night we had a good turn out in the bar despite most people not being able to arrive till Saturday due to other committments etc. Plenty of ale was drunk, far too much by me and I had a bit of a sore head on Saturday morning.
Breakfast was good at the Inn, usual full English or as John insisted, full Irish.
Viv & Cath.

And the other Dave.

The weather was being kind to us all on the Saturday morning although there was a brief and harsh shower.
The vintage/classic bikes group were preparing their machines for a ride.

Once the rain had eased a few of us decided to go for a short ride. That would be me, the two Dave's John & Keith.
Needless to say there was an incident not too far from the Inn, which could have been a lot worse but thankfully wasn't.
There are pictures but needless to say without permission from the victim, they wont be going on here. But so that we dont become complacent this is what caused the incident and a whole lot of grief, potential expense and discomfort.
While we were at the 'scene', we were suddenly presented by a tremendous sight of about eight GTR's coming off the main road and turning onto the lane where we were waiting. Anyway, there were so many of us that we decided to have a small street party.

We were dispersed by a few angry motorists who objected to our inpromptu gathering so we headed back to the Inn where Rusty, aka Nigel and Kwikasfuki, aka Asif had arrived.
Nigel on the left.

Asif enjoying a joke. He'd just heard that I was going to do a demo on how slow a GTR could be ridden.
Another one of the resident dogs, no doubt considering cocking it's leg against my bike.

Dave, Steph and Colin.

We decided to attempt a group photo of all the GTR's (15 of them) in front of the pub. Two non GTR's had to be towed away in order to avoid a lot of photo shopping!
Finally achieved. It certainly raised a few eyebrows even from non bike owners at the pub.

After we'd taken the pics we discovered that some cheeky bleeder had 'stolen' our drinks which we'd left out on our table. A quick bit of investigative work revealed the below image from CCTV.
Anyway, presented with the evidence, she apologised and returned them.
Eventually a few folk started to disperse.

This guy then turns up with his ten month old Great Dane, trust me, it was bloody huge!

Apparently thats what £900 will buy you.
Saturday night there was a lot more of this......

And as the pub was so busy we had to wait a while but eventually we got some of this.....

Sunday morning, breakfast again. Eventually Asif turned up and made a new friend.

Dave then made a move and got himself ready to go to Nottingham to see family.

We started to get ready for departure, hoping the weather would stay dryish so we could have a little look around the area.

We went to Lower Slaughter, (what a quaint little name) where Dave insisted I photograph these ducks.

Asif had to make great haste to get home for a wedding so we headed to the motorway and as Dave said on his post above it was quite a spirited ride. We all stopped off at Lynn Ravens Cafe at Whitchurch again and then parted company with Asif as Dave & I went to J & S motorcycles somewhere down that neck of the woods.
So thats it, just a few pics.... :whistling: to tempt others to attend next years meet perhaps and a momento of this years event for those who attended. P.S. apologies if there are any spelling mistakes, its taken me a while to do this write up!!!
Steve
Great report Steve !
Just a correction, Colin, was the first to arrive at Lower Lode.
Steve ... you are wasted doing your job .. turn to journalism !!! Excellent write up and great photos ... were they ALL yours ?? :whistling:
For those who could not attend you really missed out on a great get together, so I hope that next year, wherever we end up there is a repeat of this years goodwill and fun !
Thank you of course to those who took the time and effort organised it all ... you know who you are... Good Effort !
Magnificent photos LW, thanks for sharing. Great memories.
I thought it might be worth putting some more names to faces, particularly the Cirencester breakfast contingent. I have an appaling memory for faces and names, so hope I get this right :mfr_lol:
This is Alan (BigAlan), me (Martin - MJJ_ZX6RR), Chris (cpettifer) and Mike (gonome).

Steve (routemaster) in the magnificent blue striped shirt, and John (not sure of his forum name, Wiltsguy?) with the red shirt under the bike jacket.

Ok, ok, Rusty did borrow my camera at one point and may be responsible for some of the above photos.
Nigel, my wife was asking why did you take so many pictures of the young ladies who worked in the Inn? I would never do anything like that! :innocent:
Martin, many thanks for naming the other attendees, I wasn't too sure who they all were, I have a terrible memory.
Steph, I've included Colin now in that section of my post. Did I mention I have a terrible memory?
Steve, any chance you would email me two or three of the best "all in a line in front of t'inn" photos? martin @ trackandrace . com
Martin.

Done. Hmm, just checked and your address blocked it. I'll try again.
Should have gone now.
Excellent write up with pics Steve
Just to add we had Birdy and his partner turn up on Saturday as well. They hadn't even registered on the forum.
A few random thoughts:
The one thing we forgot to do was get a group photo taken. Typical bikers - ensuring we get a shot of all the GTRs and forgetting to get the people. Although we should have a shot of everyone (almost) standing next to their GTRs.
Congrats to Viv and Kath on their engagement
John has the luck o' the irish.
Stephs bike is just sex on wheels.
A tazer is not to be taken lightly
Thanks to Martin for getting the first round of drinks in
The inn wasn't quite prepared for the amount of bikers
Bewarned, even if a member on here isn't a copper, their missus might be. Which reminds me, must drive to Rossendale with my baffle out
Big Alan is big
Colin has done most of the GTR meets (3 including the one from the other site)
The only thing Bradford is good for is a curry
LW can ride hard and fast if he's not leading (it was a shock to see that)
Getting a taxi to come out and pick you up from the inn can be a mission in itself
Rusy bought the good weather with him
Oh and the one I almost forgot. On the way back we stopped by Lower Slaughter for a cuppa and got served by an absolute stunner. LW and 2wacks didn't even notice. Its great to be young (ish).
great pics lads came down sunday arrived lunch time just missed you bugger.
As usually steve, excellent pics and write up  asif mentiond we should I've got a group photo of all the gtr's with the proud owners standing by the bike's.. well we did! we asked cath, to use your camara and take a pic of us all standing at our bike's remember..! well where is it......
ferry was a little late but sailed not a bad run weather was brutal when i got home ,total mileage for me 700 miles and 2 ferry trips. And once again it was a pleasure to meet you all.
Dave, it didn't come out as well as I would have liked. It looked a bit cluttered. As Asif mentioned we should have had one of all the owners on their own separate from the bikes.
Dave, I've spent a bit of time on it and photoshopped it a tad to try to improve it. This is the end result.

Shame about that Deb. You missed a good trip. We could have riden up together if you had wanted to come just for the Saturday. I met up with the Wiltshire Gang at Cirencester for breakfast and then we rode up together. It must have looked a fine sight as 6 GTR's line astern.

I did noticed the stunner of the female kind on our way home at "Lower Slaughter" Ho" but I never drool over something I can't have  but we must give asif the benefit of the doubt and assume where talking about the same person
Please excuse me for my "late" update here .... I have just spent about 45 minutes doing the pics etc and for some thick fingered idiot moment, and I have no idea how, I have deleted or lost the "New Post" ..

Hi Steve - great write up and lovely pics.
Thanks for being considerate and not loading the pics of the damage to my bike.
Actually I dont mind if you want to. Although the 'incident' really spoiled the weekend for me - it WAS my own fault, as you know I was (and still am) bloody angry with myself for such a shocking mistake!!
Had a busy day today trying get some quotes for the bits and bobs needed to get her ship shape.
I am undecided about going thru insurance - my excess is £400 and I do have NCP BUT....... (although it will obviously be a lot of money....) I kinda think it may be slighlty less painful (if albeit more dosh) to just get it repaired.
Thinking back to what actually happened ... -funny, even tho it was only walking pace - it did seem to happen very quickly. I think I must have panicked as the wheel started to go - maybe grabbed the front brake??
While I was on the phone to the insurance and break down people - I did have plenty of time to look at the junction.
Blind bend to the right, a dip in the road on the left, so visibility was poor - as pretty much everyone said, IF I had tried to ride through it, and regained grip, and IF soemthing had been coming - then I could have been in deep doo doo!!
But - am still looking forward to our trip to the lake district with four mates from our club. Yes I am sure you will NOT believe I AM a member of the IAM and Herts and beds Advanced Motorcyclists!!! And cant wait to do another meet with you guys soemtime.

Looks like you all had a good weekend, shame I could not make it.
Looked impressive with all the bikes lined up outside the pub!!!
Kevin, Sorry to hear about your mishap. I now the dust has settled you probably feel a little bit better, when realizing it could have been a loy worse. Regarding the bike rather than buying new painted bits, could you not get someone like Dream machine to repair and paint your original bits?.
A little video of all the GTR's neatly parked up outside the Lower Lode Inn.

That's because black is fast, but off black is slightly faster! :mfr_lol:
mmmmmmmmm. now where did I leave that tin of bullshit repellant :mfr_lol:
Guhl Motors in the USA has PROOF that they 2007-2009 GTRs are faster than the 2010-2012 ones.
The ECU has a speed limiter setting.
On the 07-09 it is set to 300kph (186Mph).
On the 10-12 it is set to 250kph (155Mph).
As for the colour,.... Black is SEXIER!
Once again I have to apologise for the lateness of this thread ... no excuses, just shift work and more shift work !!
So, here we go .... and of course I cant believe it was only last week, bike washed, of course, panniers on, under duress, and about 130 miles or so from sunny Worthing to Tewksbury ... was it going to stay dry .. oh I hoped so and the journey didn't disappoint ... soon found my self stopping for fuel and coffee only after a couple of hours or so to find I was only about 15 miles from The Inn .... and then I was there....
I turned up into an empty car park, closely followed by Asif with no people no bikes and a locked door !! What ? No bikes and NO beer ?? What on earth was going on ? Had I got the right day ? Had Rusty gone mad ( "madder" I can here you say ! )
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3545.jpg) BUT what a lovely place to be, so we had a look around in case the Gtrs were elsewhere....
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3539.jpg) .... Empty benches but not for long.
Of course it wasn't long before Asif and I were joined by "The Peleton" who had been out for a ride earlier in the day and had now arrived back on the whole, in one piece.
So here we were, after ALL that planning and ALL those pages we were here, with more to join us for a good social get together ..........
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3550.jpg) John and Dave posing their best pose
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3575.jpg) Martin joining in on a strange game .."Lets all sit on the tables" !!!!!
So of course now there were plenty of bikes and they all need to be photographed and lined up and paraded for all to see .... and so they were ... once I had asked that local drunk to move his Fireblade !
Did you see how as we were all getting them ready and moving them about he could clearly see what was going on and he skuttled away inside hoping that he could ruin it all for us ! Idiot

(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3554.jpg) Now the food had been ordered and drinks were being drunk ( and nicked by the barmaid !! ) All was going swimmingly.

I think Steve was trying to get "the winning" shot and nearly went flying, which of course wouldn't have been funny at all.
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3590.jpg) One of those funny coloured ones that of course have grown on me over time .. but still not as nice as GREEN.
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3591.jpg) Nothing like a bit of front end.
After Steve went off for a siesta and we all had a chance to get round the table some left for homes that were not far away and the rest of us headed for the bar / restaurant for more food.
I believe Mr Wolf shot all the social pictures of table dining and evening guests arriving ... excellent stuff and nice to meet everyone, just a shame it wasn't quite warm enough to eat and drink outside, as I think that would have capped it all.
For the few of us who stayed over it was breakfast in the morning, lovely it was too and a quick "Hello" from the other residents ...
(http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n531/NigelCooper/IMG_3604.jpg) The other residents just couldn't resist lying around and enjoying the attention.
So there you have it, some more 2012 photos which I feel paint a very good picture of not just our weekend but of the Forum as a whole .... a great bunch of blokes, and of course ladies who all get on and just enjoy a bit of decent grown up company and chit chat.
If for what ever reason you could not make it this year then please come along in 12 months time .. it will only get bigger and better.
Nice pics and writeup Rusty.
LW and I were saying earlier thank God the meet was last weekend and not this as Lode Inn is probably under water
:agree:
Rusty, thanks for posting your pics, all of which are excellent.
very impressive pic's and write up Mr rusty! Mr wolf.. look's like you got serious competition in the photo/write up category
Bah, bloody humbug!
Credit where credit is due. They are good photos.
Yeah more great pics! Thanks very much! Sorry I missed out now.

Me by a mile.
Meeting these guys was like going into a time warp.
All I could hear were stories about retirement :whistling:
never mind the youngest, who's the oldest :whistling:
I think we all know the answer to that question......he's always reminding us!! I'm 64 ya know :mfr_lol:

Ha!! he may be the oldest, but dose he look the oldest
Great photo's Rusty, pity I was unable to stay a bit longer in the Saturday, will try & plan a bit better for next year. Don't knock retirement Asif as my GTR & pride & joy was a retirement & 65th birthday pressie to myself. Still don't seem to get enough time to get out & ride as much as I thought I would.
It was a lovely place for the meet. Whoever suggested it deserves a medal.

Nope, means you have to get the rounds in first next time
That'll never happen ! :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
that meet looked really good. just wish I had my GTR and was a member of the site then as I would have gone
That wouldn't have been a problem TS ... the general feeling, I believe, is that if you are on the Forum and contribute and want to come along then come along. I think you have worked out this is a good place to be and a friendly bunch of blokes, so with that in mind, wherever we go next year we'll see you there ! :mfr_lol:
Would you even let me come? On the Ultimate Touring Machine? With all the toys? In the best colour?

You'll be coming on a black GTR fully customised? Of course.

If you lisyen carefully, even through the rain and over the distance, you will hear the sound of a rib cracking with laughter :mfr_lol:

I just thought that was the sound of a beamer breaking down :mfr_lol:
My better half refers to BMW drivers as Bloody Minded W*nkers.
Of course she is referring to the car drivers (normally self obsessed sales types).
I've not ridden the K16GT but I very much doubt if it would tempt me off the GTR.
I got the GTR as I wanted a sportsbike but don't fit on them, not even on the ZZR1400.
I only tour occasionally so for me it's a SPORTS-tourer.
As for the Ultimate Touring Machine,.... that's my 1989, 170,000 mile GTR1000 that is, so until you've ridden 1000 miles in a day or done 600 miles two-up in 10 hours, then it's just the Ultimate Posing Machine. :hammer: :hammer: :tt2:
Totally agree with you George - the GTR is more sports oriented and when we tested last year that was exactly the conclusion arrived at. Not as good as a pillion perch, more for the sports end of touring and exceptional at that.
The GTR is a brilliant machine and ticks all the boxes. long live the big K!
As for your last comment - I did 760 miles none stop (except for fuel / Chunnel) last week from Thonon Les Bains to Hull so I do believe I/it have/has the relevant credentials.............
Winny ... you HAVE to come next year just so I can oggle your machine of great beauty :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:
Looks like you all had a great time. Sorry we were elsewhere (well, if I'm honest I'm not but I'm sorry the dates clashed).

Kevin, good to hear from you. You missed a good event, how was your trip?

I have also eaten lots of pies, so dont fit on sports bikes. But I still have a devilish side to me, and like to go out and have some fun, Over the years I have test rode lots of touring bikes, (not the K16) and they always leave me feeling "Wheres the fun in that".. So when I last changed bikes the GTR just did, and had all the things that I needed, sporty ish engine, lots of weather protection, heated grips, and It's a physically large bike, but very comfy. I'm not sure that I will ever own a pure touring bike, as when I have worn the GTR out I will more than likely to old to ride anything other than some mid sized engined bike, or a big scooter type thing.

Kevin, good to hear from you. You missed a good event, how was your trip?
[nods] Sounds like it was good and a lot more attendees than last year.
We had a great time thanks. It's a really interesting place and the weather, while not hot, was excellent (better than here). We should have the trip report up on our web site some time over the weekend.

Corrected that for you :whistling:
Look forward to reading it. There weren't more places with naughty words were there? I hope you took some fantastic pictures of the
blonde women scenery there
This year the weather was good on those days. I think we were very fortunate.

 [nods] They are always written from Lyn's perspective and it's true to say that if she didn't pen the first draft they are unlikely to ever be written as I'm too bone idle which is why there are few reports from my solo rides. I bet you think authors are solely responsible for the content of books as well...

If there were any places with naughty names we'd have needed a translator and we still wouldn't have been able to pronounce them! Your last sentence was the one disappointment. We did get some pictures of nice scenery though.
Kevin (going back to editing the first draft...)
I've just been reminiscing on last years event, what a blinder it was. Note to self, must revisit the old place.
