My GTR is in for it's 15k service this morning, and the dealer principle gave me this for the day as a loan bike .....

Oh my god  ;D

Now I have a 2006 version of this that I trackday, and used to race. So I am used to stretching the capabilities of litre bikes, but this thing is a whole new level. 195bhp (claimed), big piston forks, ABS, traction control (which I did not test on the road) and anti-wheelie (which I did).

It is like they have taken my 2006 model, and made the new one 25% better everywhere. Astonishing weapon of a bike. The biggest surprise for me was the suspension. I have spent a lot of money upgrading my bike's forks and shock, but this standard stuff is light years better - more controlled, more supple. Only 4 years R&D extra, but wow.

I know a number of us are into our sports bikes too, but if you get a chance to take one of these out, grab the chance with both hands.

Wow. You hear of people getting decent bikes as loans bikes. I only ever get crappy ER5s when I take mine in. I'm lucky if it has a screen too for my motorway journey home...

Previously - Kawasaki Versys, Honda 650 Deauville, Honda 125 Varadero

Oh don't worry, it is not a favouritism or dealer charity thing. It is just that the dealer principle knows my 10 is getting on a bit, and he sniffs an opportunity here.

My credit card is quaking - it is a stunningly good bike.

Damn you dealer principle and your underhand (but sincerely appreciated) tactics  ;D

You lucky bugger! Always been tempted to take one on a test ride but afraid I'd sign on the dotted line ...

Took it the long, back road way back to the dealer. Probably did 70 miles on it all told.

Monumentally stunning bike. The fact that you can just pin it in 1st, and let the anti-wheelie dish out just what gravity can cope with is very impressive. It has been a long time since I have ridden a bike that made me giggle out loud in my crash helmet - I did a lot of that yesterday. It encourages baaaaad behaviour though - I dread to think what would happen if I used it as a road bike regularly.

Got back to the dealer and picked up the GTR, and that is just as impressive in a very different way. Both bikes are very good at their jobs - they would make the perfect garage stablemates. Now, where is that lottery ticket ?  ;)

Nice!

My first service I got a KTM RC8R to play with, absolutely loved it as the 120 miles I put on it showed. Been trying to blag a go on a 10 but sales manager knows I'm skint after buying the GTR ;D

Looks a stunning bike, I think your right about making a good pair

I'm off to the Lotto shop too ;)
Once you realise we are all mad, life starts to make sense

Even in that yukky green I bet that is an awesome bike ...... it just LOOKS fast  ;D
