MCN article this week about the 2012 ZZR1400 - strongly hinting at a supercharger (again).  Delivery of 200bhp at the back wheel.

Woudn't it be nice if that engine was in the next GTR1400 chucking out, say 170bhp at the back wheel and 20% more torque?

I'd buy one tomorrow.  Anyone else?

mecki

No thanks  - Mine is already fast enough.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

If its in MCN then it must be true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Been reported elsewhere that its ABS+TCS and a few extra HP.

Cant see any mainstream manufacturer putting a supercharger on a 1400cc bike when the 1litres can get close too 200bhp so getting 200 out off a 1400 without making it all top end should be easy enough.

Mines fast enough also. If they start doing supercharged GTR's then the insurance companies will just screw us over even more.

PS

I'm with you GTRPete I'd trade in for a go faster version tomorrow - prefer a go quicker version actually as acceleration more important than top speed

mecki

The acceleration of the GTR is also more than sufficient for a tourer.
If I would give it real stick in second gear I would have to shut it down even before I switch into 3rd because I would be way over the speed limit already even on the motorway.

So really this 'I want more horsepower than the other guys' sounds like a total waste of money to me.
Either you'd be fighting to keep the front wheel on the ground (if you have KTRC turned off) or you pay a fortune on tyres - so what's the use?

Why !!!!! my GTR does everything i want it to and more if i ask of it

I have a 100 hp Ducati monster evo for the lads day's out and thats powerful enough.
get a grip and deal with it

To feel the GTR really shift you have to open the throttle fully. I did it in second and the thrust is amazing. You really have to hold on. By the time I was in third the bike felt like it was flying. Didn't hold the throttle fully open in third for long I can tell you. Second gear is probably enough.

I think from my perspective have a lump of extra torque would be useful.  Think of your current GTR1400 in top gear doing say 60mph.  Imagine just wackibg the throttle open to overtake and have the same oomph as if you were in 4th or 5th?

Similarly, Imagine the same but with your missus on the back and a few tons of her luggage on the bike....

I don't think I  would spend much time wringing its neck in second a third etc - if I wanted to do that I  wouldn't have sold my 'blade for the GTR... I just think a bit more oomph when you want it would be a good thing - its up to you if you use it or not.

60 mph in 6th? That's less than 3000 rpm, right?
Why don't you get yourself a Suzuki 1250 Bandit or GSX1250FA then?
She'll do just that and only costs about half. 8)
Well, not as comfy, only 96 bhp and not much oomph above 7000 rpm. though. :-X
