On my way to work local roundabout wet and diesel spill bike and i went down the road, all the damage is to the right hand mirror and  fairing also pannier and exhaust ,just wondering when it comes time to order the parts can anyone reccomend a good place in the uk to order these and local dealer in ireland will rob me.

BigAlan

I would have a look at Ebay, there are usually a few bits and pieces around to be had, it might even be cheaper to get the side panel and get the local painshop to paint it rather than purchase a new one, then try repairing the old one with fibreglass etc and keep it as a spare.

Ouchhh ..sorry to hear that news old fruit ... I too would try E Bay or MCN in the classified bits after the " Bikes for Sale " ... there are usually lots of little adverts in there that will keep you busy.

Kawdolph

have fully comp insurance with no claims protection so will have to claim i think.

Rusty

Ah well, that's a little different then ... if your NC is protected then claim away, remember that's what you pay a little extra for so get on and use it  ;D

I feel your pain.

Instance or ebay is your best bet

I take it you are ok, you don't say?
The bike can be relatively easily fixed, get it sorted through the insurance, that's what it's there for in my eyes. It might cost you in the long run but it'll be a lot less hassle than trying to source bits from eBay.

Kawdolph

I ended up with a sore hip and shoulder but other than that im ok

BigAlan

One other thing, how many people did it take to lift it back up?

Diesel is really nasty. Not to long ago I filled up and some idiot had spilled Diesel on the ground. I nearly dropped my bike at the station and the next time I stopped the soles of my boots where still so slippery that I nearly dropped it again. It must be one of the worst hazards on the road! :o
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

Kawdolph

Alan there was another man behind me in a car so the two of us lifted it not a hope on my own.

Diesel is indeed very nasty and it's also the cause of many a mishap where cars are concerned but unfortunately for us bikers it can be particularly dangerous if not deadly.
My old traffic Sgt was always very supportive of us reporting motorists who were negligent by not correctly securing their filler caps resulting in diesel spillages but unfortunately times change, people move on and new bosses come in.
Recent case in hand, large diesel spillage from a recovery truck, necessitating the road having to be gritted etc, driver admits not having checked his filler cap before he set off and when he does check it in front of me and a colleague who coincidentally is also a biker the truck driver realises his truck is responsible for the diesel spillage. Driver interviewed at scene, driver signs interview notes taking responsibility for the spillage, two supporting statements from Officers one of whom, (me) is authorised to test and inspect motor vehicles on a road and low and behold the matter gets dropped by CPS.
Now if I had just had an off because of a diesel spillage and the offending vehicle was identified and the driver admitted being responsible and then the matter got dismissed at court I'd be furious. It seems the driver had 6 points already and another 3 would have caused him problems at work, his boss complained and even one of our Sgts advised him how he may be able to avoid a conviction and low and behold it worked.

Just had a call from my mechanic this morning ,,alot more damage than first hoped the cradle that holds the fairings is sanpped and one of the engine casings is ruptured aswell getting worried that if repair bill is to high they will write her off.

Rusty
