I have had my GTR since March, a new bike. I have completed 8000 miles and had a poor mileage from the original manufacturers tyres, only about 2500 on the rear. And I am not a mad rider, mostly motorways and touring mileage.
I replaced the rear tyre but had a puncture, so this only lasted about 500 miles. I have now got Metzler's fitted front and rear, and thus far seem to have completed 5000 miles with the rear still showing it might complete another 1000 to 1500 miles.

My question to those of you who are more knowledgable than me on this subject, is what sort of mileage can I expect from my tyres. Is 7 to 8000 unreasonible? for one or both tyres.

Do you have the z8s? Fatharry got 5k out of his before they deteriorated drastically.

Hi

It is always difficult to guess estimate the mileage for tyres as there are numerous factors that will affect tyre wear. For the Z8 I would suspect that about 6,000 miles would be a reasonable guess. The tyres that do seem to be getting a good mileage are the PR3's, my front has done over 8,000 and the rear before the puncture had 5,000 miles with a good 3,000 miles left.

Kind regards

Steven

Yes they are K8s really pleased so far. Must try the tyres PR3s you have all said are good. Maybe my next tyres.

Thank you both for the feedback.

Meant Z8 s. Why I said K8s I do not know. Old age setting in.

Rippers .... get some PR 3's ... everyone just loves them ... had mine on for a few weeks (with riding most days for work) and they have been excellent !
There is a thread here somewhere just on tyres, take a look and I am sure you will find it most useful  ;D
