 >:( I've just read that BT have made profits this year of 155 million pounds. Thats not a bad effort at all everything considered.

I got my phone bill from them today and discovered that while I was away in Scotland in June and I had to reverse charges on one particular night as I'd run out of change they charged me £21.89p for a 4 minute call.

Now I can call my Sister in Australia from my mobile for 0.04p per minute so how the hell do they justify £5+ per minute for a landline to landline call.  I'm just grateful during the call I passed the phone kiosk number to my wife and she rang me back...if we'd been chatting for ages as we often do I could have been faced with an absolutely astronomical bill!

I couldn't call my wife on this occasion from my mobile as there was no signal at all the area was so remote. Live and learn I guess but I will be calling BT in the morning to see if I can plead with their better nature ::)

WTF. That's ridiculous.

Just tell them if they don't drop the charge you'll be going to another provider

was the bill presented by a man on a horse wearing a black mask to cover his eyes? :o
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Lol, it might as well have been!

It seems BT do not have a tel number to their accounts dept in the UK. Everything is managed overseas. The options are extremely limited and the staff I have spoken to and who have relished in placing me on hold this morning over and over again have been of no use whatsever.

Phone them up and tell them you're thinking of leaving. They'll put you through to their retention dept which is UK based.

Dealing with offshore is a nightmare. Not that I'm against it, I just think its wrong to take jobs (and money) out of the UK economy.

NB, it''ll probably come to making that threat. Its only the wife that wants to keep the landline, I personally cant see the point. Broadband is fibre optic so dont need a phone line and I use the mobile for everything else.

Dick Turpin enterprises. We only with BT to enable us to have broadband. have a legacy broadband package with Orange at £5 a month
and getting near 8meg download speeds, our phone bill from Bt is usually just the line rental.
sadly out here in the wilds of wales we do not have the
luxury of fibre optic services  :(

I binned BT a few weeks ago and went to Sky ..... perfect AND a fair bit cheaper too !

You've just reminded me, I'm gonna give them another call in the morning.   >:(
