Nothing special but I managed a ride out to Ambleside in the Lake District on the 2nd Jan. Bloody cold it was too! I think it's the first proper ride I've had on the bike for quite a while as there's been a lot occurring at home.

Anyway just because I can, I created a short video to bore you all to death. Anyone from up North may even recognise one or two of the sights.

I was initially confused as the film cut from the road into Ambleside to the Kendal bypass, but then picked up your route..... I miss riding in that part of the world but don't miss the  traffic that is a part of it, you didn't even seem to be able to get out of 4th gear for mile after mile

Nice bit of video Steve ... I was out this morning for an hour .. just to take on the empty Sunday morning roads, and got home just as it started to rain !  Like everyone else ...cant wait for Spring ...

I had hoped to get out on the bike again on my six rest days, but alas it was not to be. I have washed it though.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, all the filming was coming out of Ambleside I didn't bother doing any on the way in. I was surprised just how busy it was on a week day, even though some folk will have still been off work.

Brave man!

I did a communte to Birmingham on the Z1000 on New Year's Eve, but only becuase the wife had been out in my Jag and managed to pick up a puncture. - Tyres for that take a couple of days to get hold of over the Christmas period.

I'd rather have been doing the ride you did though. Nowhere near the same amount of mountains and lakes in Birmingham....

For all the jokes about Bradford and how horrible it is, I am lucky that in about half an hour I can get into North Yorkshire via Skipton and head towards many beautiful places. Ambleside and the surrounding area is one such location.
