I ran wires direct from the battery to an ancilliary fusebox.
From the fusebox I run my spotlights via a relay, and a cigarette lighter socket for accessories/battery charger.
I still have 3 outputs on the fusebox available.
Tried to attach wiring diagram, but can't (3.27MB)
PM me yer email address and I can email it to ya.

Under the left hand infill panel, just in front of the glove box us a big rubber boot containing loads of wiring. In amongst it are 2 loose wires, one live, one earth.  These are ignition controlled and are there for exactly your purpose

As burchy stated there are two bullit connectors which you can connect too this is where mine is wired to powers  on and off with the ignition cannot remember the size do a search on here this was discussed a while back and there are photos

O.C.

The two aforementioned leads are often only short, so I have in the past simply extended them both by a couple of inches, simply make up two short lengths of lead, one male and the other female, and plug them together this makes the whole process of connecting to them easier

Black wire with female connector is switched live. Black/Yellow trace with male connector is earth.
Japanese bullets are 3.9mm

Turn the rubber sleeve back like a shirt cuff and you'll find them.
