mmmmm, drilling the screen for a mounting may be okay, but don't forget that whatever is mounted to that fitting point will rise and fall with the screen, the fitting point may also be weakened as a result,  also the supply cable will need to be fitted in such a way that it allows movement

I was able to use differing length RAM extenders in order to move the Sat Nav device away from direct eyeline and instruments.

It did make things "busy" at first as you pointed out but I soon became used to it, and wasn't distracted

I agree with the above, I will test it and se how it goes tomorrow.

But we have a friend from over the pond who has sent me some images of how he did his and as I have a spare screen if I don't like it then I will then "scrounge" a bit of ally from a mate of mine and carry out his idea (which I dismissed in a second when looking at mine) which now seems feasible.

Again I shall report back tomorrow.

I would've thought that there would be way too much weight on the screen and mechanism after fitting the sat nav. They're not exactly light weight.

I once put it on the screen, but dont do it,  it will shake whole the way.. So you cant read it
It need to be mounted on the dashboard itself . It will be steady there.
Here also, be carefull to check when the screen goes up or down...

Disaster, as beegee stated it wobbled horribly, when your sat in a leather chair in the carpeted garage fixing it to the screen on your lap seems a good idea, don't, never got to the end of the road before I stopped and removed it and the fixing.

But there is another idea, one which our American friends says works, so a call to my old employers workshop and some various bits of ally are on there way to me.

If it works then I shall publish pics.

Let round two commence.

I know a certain bavarian manufacturer does a bar for one of the models that sits above the clocks and beneath the screen I wonder if you could copy and adapt this idea if there is a fixable place and you could use the screen as normal

Just got back from an Isle of Man and Wales tour.

I had the satnav on the bracket between the bars, despite being a little low it was fine for me.
I have a bar handy that is used for the Virb camera.

I think what I try next is to mount a ram ball to the Kawasaki GPS bracket between the bars, then use an extension bar to another Ram Ball mount fitted to the back of the Garmin 590 Cradle.  Whilst still in between the bars, it would be much higher.

Eg:
Kawasaki GPS Bracket - Ball mount <> Extension bar <> ball mount - Cradle

This should raise it at least 6-8 inches off the current mounting point between the bars.

It's a shame that a bike which is made for. Touring has not had a it more thought on where a sat nav would go , on top of the clocks would be the ideal spot ,it would be easy to see and be out of the weather , my ktm1050 has a metal frame around the clocks and a bar above to fit sat nav on ,as the same as most BMW gs ,  :biker3:

Tay

I had the same with my Versys, SW Motech bar was perfect.
