My GTR came with an OEM 39l top box fitted which was handy . Big enough to take my rucksack with laptop in etc but could only take one helmet (ok I know you can fit a helmet in each pannier but.....)

On my Bird I had a Givi Maxia which comfortably took two helmets so the next decision was whether to get one of those and also replace the mounting plate (the Maxia is Monokey, the OEM is Monolock) . After humming and haing I settled on the Blade B47N Tech plus the optional cover. The latter was ordered in silver which is close but not quote so a friend sprayed it up for me to match.

Piccys speak for themselves. Still to do fit some 10mm red LEDs to the Blade to use as supplementary brake lights (could have taken the easy option and ordered the kit but had some LEDs lying around from a previous project)

8 whole extra litres :)

I was debating whether to go with the V56 Maxia but that would have meant changing the base plate (admittedly not difficult)  and I don't think it's quite  as stylish looking(pus a load more expensive).

Only decision no is whether to sell on the 39 litre (I have a spare monolock plate to go with it) or keep it just in case I fancy fitting the slightly smaller one.

Blade is better looking.
It's a shame Givi don't do an all over gloss paint.
The rough texture prevents colour matching the whole box.
Is there another manufacturer that produces anything of similar quality?

Shad is a name I've heard good things about but have no experience.

Not sure I would actually like it all over colour coded, that said I did have the complete lid of my Maxia colour coded (yes I know there's a piece of trim missing) :)

Have just realised watching this video  (I was checking how long the Blade has been around) that this case actually fits on Monolock and Monokey bases

I'm using a Shad now with a color colour matched lid.  It's starting to feel it's age somewhat as the lock is getting finicky and the lid is harder to shut.  But then again it's been on the bike nearly 10 years.

That is a great picture Mikey. Have you worn off your blobs?

We can get the colour matched tops but not the whole box.
That is a shame I think.

My very recent research on the link that Mikey put up suggests that Shad are more expensive than the Givi.

Ok so I was browsing around and I have to say the latest top box offering from the Kawasaki mothership (which looks to be another rebadged Givi) is actually not bad looking nor too stupidly priced. I also like you an have the lok matched to your ignition key

Mike it VERY good .
That came with the full touring package on my 16 plate .
Very positive locking mechanism . Metal mounting plate .
Dual skinned construction .
Easy to modify if you want to put L.E.D lights in and a  charging socket for laptops or whatever . If it's any help I use for a power lead a autocom straight extension lead .
Cut it in half strip wires back and you have a damn good waterproof connection should you want to remove the box.
My Mrs loves the backrest that came with it . Declaring it was one of the most comfortable boxes we have ever had .
And Yes the box us made by GIVI so it's a good quality .
Hope this helps

kawasaki branded luggage is Kappa product, which I believe is a division of Givi, hence the similarity
