Hello I'm not fortunate enough yet to be a GTR1400 Owner but as I am looking to upgrade from an older ZZR1200. I love my current ride except for the faffing about with the chain so i'm interested in the GTR1400 . i've read several reviews on the bike from the early models to the most recent & it ticks all the boxes for me.

I've seen quite a number of complaints about faults with KIPASS  keyless ignition failing ie seemed to be quite a lot on You Tube about the solenoid sticking is this an issue with this particular model or a partucular year  or am I seeing a lot of worse case scenarios?  I love the GTR in all other respects . Thanks

PRD

I'm on my second one and never had a problem with it.

Dont worry about that its an easy fix with a little wd40 sprayed in the right spot then no probs after that. Its just a drying of the chanel that the switch slider sits in. Easy fix really. If you find a good one go for it mate youll love it 👍
Baby blade ,rt1100,CB1300 and the best yet gtr1400 😁😁😁👌

welcome ossianuk,  I'm riding my fourth GTR since 2008, and I have never had a problem, as Mac says any issues are easy to resolve and frankly very rare.

Which model /year of GTR are you looking for.?

This is a superb forum wher good friendly banter and excellent information is all free of charge (a small occasional donation is greatfully received)

That's the internet for you.
For every one KIPass problem, there are thousands that work without fault, but then they never get reported.

As has been said, the odd one that plays up is easily fixed.

It happened to me.....twice, early on.  Knock on wood, it hasn't happened again.  I was able to get by it by cursing it quite severely and hitting it with my fist.  I couldn't find any rocks and didn't have a hammer.   Since then I've carried a small silver hammer for just in case...have never needed it.  I'm not sure at all that lubrication of any sort helps it as it can get gummy after time.  Every once in awhile I give it a spritz with contact cleaner at about the 9 o'clock position to blow any dirt out.  Kwackers upgraded the spring in the ignition switch at some point on the later bikes.  Can't tell you when that happened (10+?).  You can't just get this spring as it's part of the ignition assembly, unfortunately.

One of our members, Brian, sells a wiring kit to get you by it and back on the road if it should happen.  I also have that kit installed.  It's not too expensive.

If you really want the bike (OP) then buy it.  Whilst it's been discussed until the Kaws come home, I wouldn't let that deter you.
