Morning,

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to Christmas.

I took the GTR to Autorama Kawasaki witgh my Garmin Sat Nav and a Nippy Normans Fuze Block and they could not fit it and just wired the sat nav to the battery with an inline fuse, the problem with this being that the nav is not then switched with the ignition key and the pins are permanently live.

Can anyone around West Yorkshire recommend or fit a Nippy Normans Fuze block ??

Thanks in advance

What do you want to run off it, There is a switched accessory wire under the left fairing pannel. Wire your sat nav to it,Follow the vidio and he will show where the wires are. Hope this helps.https://youtu.be/-68Enejvmeg  Not sure which is the live or earth colour though.Keep your inline fuse if it is lower than the accessory fuse on your bikes f box as not to blow ya sat nav.

Go back to Autorama, ask for Brian , and ask him to wire your sat nav to the auxiliary terminals which are located in the rubber wiring boot behind the front left side panel or alternatively wire it to the second auxiliary wiring which lies beneath the rear seat catch, both of which are switched, so when you turn your ignition off anything connected through them will also power down

Tell him Roger sent you, coincidentally he rang me 5 minutes ago, he's a top bloke

I have  a Nippy Normans Fuzeblock and never found a use/need for it on my GTR

Make you right oc. I have spotlights and extra usb power points for sat nav and phone charger plus battery charger cable and only used existing spare wires. Dont need anything else on the bike eh?

Ok following this to logical conclusion - it seems Autorama dont know about the auxillary wire either, Brians a good bloke but a sales not a spanner man. Any recommend anyone else that can do this, I am not either competent or dexterous enough to do it myself.  :embarrassed: :embarrassed:

i would have thought most bike shops or auto electrician would be able to do it.It would be a big help if you could point out the aux wires to them be it under the fairing pannel or near the seat catch as pointed out before.Black and black/yellow wires. The ones under the fairing pannel would be the easiest to wire a sat nav,They could also make the connection from the live wire to the aux power socket. (cig lighter)

The Autorama staff are out at their annual Christmas nosebag this afternoon.

I'm really surprised that they don't know about the auxiliary power, they are a very well known and respected dealership (I've known Brian for more years than I care to admit to  ) and believe me he is a very good spanner man, although I accept that he probably has to spend the majority of his time in the sales and parts departments.

I don't know any auto electricians in that area, but any competent auto electrician business should be able to perform the task for you, it isn't too difficult and shouldn't be too pricey

I hope you get sorted...keep us posted

It's concerning that a Kawasaki dealership don't know about the auxiliary power sockets on the GTR!

The problem is if you take it to an auto electrician they'll probably charge you a minimum of an hours labour, possibly £70-£100 which is ridiculous for a job as simple as this.

How desperately do you need it doing?

I am not desperate to have it done as to be fair the weather is not good for getting it out and about, but as soon as it is it needs to be done.

The way it is wired at the moment is straight across the battery so the pins stay live all the time.

The photo is not a good but it shows the pins that are live, and once rain gets on the pins risk of shorting out.

I really dont mind paying someone to do it, its my baby and I want it to be right, you know what its like when  you have that niggling that its just not right !!

On the subject of dealers.
I had to educate M&S about the aux supply front and rear.
I considered nippy norms . And it's GOOD kit...
However I created a multi spur from the front aux supply and as the kit is low amp draw it works fine (sat nav ultimate add ons phone box and power supply and camera power )from the rear aup I am running the auto com from there .
I upgraded the fuse from 5 amp to 10 .
Hope this helps
