How does the traction control work?

Hello chaps,

I had an interesting experience with traction control kicking in a lot today. I went to Santa Pod drag strip and found that the traction control was kicking in rather viciously and crippling the bike, until I turned it off.the w

Once off I launched just as hard as before and there was no hint of wheelsman - the strip was extremely grippy. Does the traction control kick in only when the bike detects wheel actually spinning or does it cut in pre-emptively in low gears with large throttle openings?

Thanks

Boomer

TC detects the difference between front and rear wheel speeds.
As soon as the front wheel lifts it will kick in.
You will need to turn it off for drag racing or doing wheelies.
Not to be confused with Launch Control.

Ah that makes sense then, it wasn't kicking in because the rear was spinning, it was kicking in because the front was lifting.

Once I turned the TC off it was great fun
