Abolish road tax on Motorcycles.
Most Motorcycles cover a minimal annual mileage, have low emissions, they reduce congestion & do little to damage the roads, yet they still have to pay up to £81 tax whilst lots of cars pay Nil or only £30. This is clearly unfair and unreasonable.

Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

just being smart!  but you do realise tax is about pollution not roads... therefore with cars getting smaller engines, you have 2 hopes of getting this through - and 1 plays golf!

Be careful what you wish for!

Parity with cars to reduce your outgoings may be what you desire BUT car tax is based on emissions and bikes are not that great. Also as more car manufacturers produce more NIL rated cars it was not going to be long before the government realise that they are losing money. So from 2017 all new cars get a punitive first year tax rate based on emissions and then all cars (except NIL ones ... at the moment) get a flat rate of £140 a year. Do we want parity with that?!

Much better would be tax on fuel that is ring fenced for use on roads/infrastructure. That way heavy users pay more. Ride a classic once a year, you pay little. Simples!

Petitions like this crop up regularly. The government responds that there are published/tested figures for bikes and they are not going to change. Best not rock the boat.

Off soap box now

i think that the current rate of VED on bikes is completely fair and just and im happy to continue to pay it . Revenue raised does not go directly into a road construction/maintenance pool. All monies go into the general tax purse and pay for all the services we enjoy .
