Coming back from having the car MOT'd this morning I was listening to Radio 2 and they were discussing the proposals by GMP, Greater Manchester Police on how to save £130 million from their budget.

The solution apparantly which they have considered is to stop patroling the quieter areas of their Force. These quieter areas usually being the areas where the likes of you and I live, in decent family neighbourhood areas. The potential consequences obviously being that less Police'd areas attract the potential for criminal activity to develop.

So welcome to the future of Policing, work hard, buy a property in a decent low crime area and be rewarded by rarely if at all seeing a Police presence. Where's the logic in all this?

Apologies if this offends anyone, I'm just having a rant!! ;D

Well, the government has to cut spending so Cameron and his cronies can get even richer than they already are.

Where I lived for the last 4 years is a nice quite residential area and during that time I think I have seen a policeman about 3 times. There are no problems or issues and I believe or the perception of crime is not a issue or problem so why have a policeman patrolling the area unless they need to???

They will respond if there is a problem but if there isn't then there other areas where they would be better deployed.
There are only solutions

Thought GMP had started doing this years ago

They need to cut spending everywhere to continue sending BILLIONS out of the country as aid. >:(

Aid? You mean like in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya?

LOL!! There are no British Forces in Iraq anymore, the last Naval group left 3 weeks ago, and the other mob took us to Iraq and Afganistan. Libya is a UN/NATO action which we are bound by treaty to contribute to, as is Afganistan for that matter. Foreign aid contributions are also bound by treaty commitments to the UN/EU and other organisations made decades ago in some cases.

If we want to save money, and we have to, then what about the 126.5 billion Euros we 'give' to Europe? Which will be going up to 132.7 for 2012. or start clawing the money back from the banks Uncle Gordon so generously gave them?

Surrey police , clearly short of funds, had 9 officers on one speed gun site this weekend, clearly a good use of rescources. Our local cop shop houses the drug squad but is only open to the public for 3 hours a day, crime by appointment, but that's been the same for the 10 years we have lived here, and crime rate is no different.

sadly now after 11 years of profligate waste in the UK, if you work hard, pay your taxes, aspire to a better life for your children your merely paying for the sins of the past and the feckless wasters who think the world owes them a living.

Well, if you deduct the billions the UK gets back from the EU every year you'll find out that over the years you guys have only profitted from it.
BTW there is no UN mandate for Afghanistan and bombing Libyia isn't compulsory for Nato members either. Or why don't the Germans participate in the bombing raids on Tripoli for instance?
You shouldn't believe everything Rupert Murdoch is telling you.

This was only meant to be a light hearted dig at todays Policing budgets, please dont fall out with each other over it.  ;D

Well we can agree to disagree over that one.

BTW there is no UN mandate for Afghanistan

True but without going into dull detail there is tacit permission given by the UNSC

and bombing Libyia isn't compulsory for Nato members either.

it's not compulsory, but cannot be done without agreement by all NATO members, even if they do not wish to take part

Or why don't the Germans participate in the bombing raids on Tripoli for instance?

see above

I don't believe what he or any other egotistical lunatic tells me either, including 99.9% of politicians! Contrary to what my wife tells me I do have my own mind ;D
