Hi to all ,I am Delfox from Manchester and looking to purchase a Gtr on Saturday (Depending on road test) i am coming off a Yamaha fjr1300 so if the road test is ok ill buy it.
Just need some help on any problems to look out for, its a 2010 model with 14,000 on the clock.
Thanks in advance.

It's a bit fast, so you'll need to be careful about that.

Welcome.  The most common problem with the 2010 model onwards is a seized shock adjuster. There is a fix for it however if yours is working that would be a bonus.

The biggest problem with the 2010 model is the baby poo brown colour scheme, hopefully yours is the classy green

I've a 2010 and its a great bike and one I'd recommned
no issues in the last 3 years, runs really well, lots of power, comfy, good load lugger etc
changed the exhaust for a Beowolf one for the sound and look and fitted HID lights which aid night time driving
buy and enjoy !

A warm welcome Delfox.

I think that you already have the answers to your initial question, and I hope that will help your thought process when considering a GTR

In short the GTR is a very good reliable bike, it's a little long in the tooth in some respects but that is a positive because the bike has been around since 2008 and is therefore very well proven now, it's also a Kawasaki so basically it's bomb proof.

The rear suspension adjuster can become tight or even siezed but it's quite possible to deal with yourself, the front brake discs can become warped but if the bobbins are maintained properly this isn't an issue and the brakes will haul the bike up quite comfortably

There is lots of good help and sensible advice on here from owners who have owned a GTR for years, personally I owned three since 2008 and have no issue in recommending the bike to anyone.

You have already had big powerful bikes so I really don't think a GTR will present you with any issues regarding riding it...yes, its a quick bike but it is completely manageble when out on your own having a blast or two up with luggage touring and is even docile around town.

Obviously make sure that any bike you buy has a service  record and maybe a good used warranty for peace of mind, there were a couple of recalls initially for luggage attachment (on 2008 bikes) and also a small deflector plate for the rear brake pedal, these should have been conducted on all bikes by now.

A Beowulf exhaust will improve the sound of your bike, it's also lighter and looks a whole lot better than the OEM spud launcher, in general owners who have fitted after-market exhausts have not needed to re flash or re map their bikes so don't worry about that, I had both Akrapovic and Two Brothers pipes on GTRs over the years and all performed faultlessly without any engine or ECU mods.

Good luck with your decision,,,try the bike,, and don't forget to take your wallet with you

Finally let us know what you decide .....BTW Green is generally faster  :mfr_lol:
