Next Thursday, Ali and I are heading to Scotland for a few day. Not as long as trip as last year but I'm sure we'll enjoy the roads, the scenery and of course the GTRs.

3 nights away, 1 each in Stirling, Fort William and Falkirk.  we're meeting tomorrow to sort routes.

Our 4 day trip went well with only short periods of rain.

Day 1: We met at Charnock on the M6 and went north to Devils Bridge, Windermere, Kirkstone Pass, Ullswater, Penrith, Dumfries, Cumnock, Muirkirk, Strathaven and then M'way to Striling. I'd not ridden Kirkstone before, and we were lucky with traffic and I really enjoyed the run down from the summit to Brotherswater

Day 2:  From Stirling we went west over to Loch Lomond at Balloch, before dropping down to the Clyde Estuary at Dumbarton and heading up to Garelochead, (we didn't see any subs so assumed that either Nicola has sold them or the Navy hid them underwater!) over to Loch Long and Arrochar.   Here we joined the fabulous A83 and stopped at the top of Rest and be Thankfull, my 1st time there since 1982 on the Scottish Rally! We then stayed on the A83 to Loch Fyne and onto Lochgilphead for lunch.  The day continued with the A816 into Oban and finally a run up the coast to Fort William.

Day 3: 8am departure for a trip west to Malaig. Just over 40 miles of great road and we didn't overtake a single vehicle. After breakfast by the harbour we headed back through Fort William and down the coast with the intention of going up Glencoe and over to the Green Welly at Tyndrum.  Sadly the Glencoe road was closed due to a serious accident that we later learned involved a bike and car, and the loss of the rider's life :-(  We therefore went south towards Oban and onto Tyndrum.  A Duccatti dealer had taken over the bike park at the Green Welly so we had lunch in the cafĂ© about 200 yards down the road.  Our next destination was Falkirk and we got there via Loch Lomond and then a run taking in Aberfoyle, Dukes Pass, Loch Venachar and Callendar.

Final day took saw a rainy start but it soon eased and we headed to the Edinburgh by pass and A68 to Jedburgh for breakfast.  Continuing on to the A68 down into County Durham we headed on to moorland roads from the Derwent Reservoir through Stanhope, Middleton in Teasdale, and into Cumbria at Brough. After a short food stop at Kirkby Stephen we then went to the M6 at Tebay and a rather windy trip home.

Just over 1100 miles and a great trip. Photos are not in any particular order and captions about to be added.
