I was at the bike show yesterday looking at the revamped GTR and was wondering if the new screen with slot can be retro fixed to a 2011 model? I cannot believe that Kawasaki have changed the mechanism. Does anyone know?

viper

im sure they just changed the actual screen its self and not the bracket , if you have the opportunity , get some measurements of your original screen , centre to centre bolt hole size, across and down and then check against the new one in a dealers show room , I bet its a fit!

If it is they are gonna be very popular :)

I asked that very question of the guy giving the spiel in the evening.  He reckons it would be a straight swap.  Interestingly he also said that the lower first gear is designed to get rid of the stutter/hesitation when picking up the throttle at low speed.  We shall see!

That will be interesting, if you raise the first gear, ratio you will lower the speed for a given rev range, making the bike technically travel slower - so they must have also increased the idle to maintain the slow speed.

if I'm understanding you correctly.

Never had that issue with my gen 2 thing?..................... :mfr_lol:

Lowering the gear ratio will just increase the torque (tractive effort) available at the back wheel and increase the engine speed for any given road speed..............

Never found the bike lacking ......................but if in stage with a 2015 would expect it to be quicker off the lights  :scooter:

Kawasaki made numerous minor changes in 2015 [9] that include a revised first gear ratio, different steering stem seal for lighter steering at low speed, stiffer rear suspension for enhanced carrying capacity, an adjustable vent in the windshield, revised ABS programming to reduce the linked breaking effect, a new rear luggage base, silver bezels on the analog dash meters, elongated mid-pipe heat shield, change of warning lamp color from red to yellow, tank pad, cushions on passenger pegs, and a more deeply sculpted seat. The revised parts should all be backwards compatible with previous model years. New color option of "Candy Lime Green".
