I have thought about putting the lights in the mirrors. 

I just popped out to pick up some meds..  Car drivers were avoiding me more than usual. While riding down our road with parked cars both sides, car drivers gave way to me instead of forcing their way through like they normally do.

After going to all that hard work I would hate to have to reinvent the wheel to achieve the results you have - I think it actually makes the bike look better and fancy doing the same to mine :)
