Nice thought Viper but having gone to the expense and trouble to fit the blighters I can't ever see me wanting to remove them :)
Bike looks ugly without the boxes on anyway (look out for incoming).......

yes that's fair enough, however I like to park my bike tight into the garage so this enables me to do that. In the winter when the bikes is unused I goona scrape something with tool boxes ect . I hardly ever ride without panniers   but when I took the bike for MOT I couldn't see the need to fit them. Someone on here had asked Ant for foldable bars so there is defo a need for this with some members. I think there is someone on here who even has to remove his mirror to get his bike parked through a gate

The bars we use in the US are made a bit different than yours, however I like the concept, though.

your bars tend to be the MCC enterprises ones, Ant a member on here made his own based on their design, but better in terms of clearance for pillion fit ,  How are yours attached to the bike , not bolted through the rear hangers?

Hi all,

Surely Sod's law dictates that the day you leave off your crash bars is the day it falls over.

If you're gonna fit them ( and I never will cos God they are ugly) then leave them on!

You CAN fall off/over on the way to/from the MOT!!!

ah , I see, bottom bracket bolts to the footrest.

just did the mod because I need to remove the cases to put the bike away and its a lot easier than having a bolt that goes through the rear hangers.

Good job there Niell..........nicely done but echo comments above to some degree...

Jim, from what I can remember the MC ones interfere with pillion feet without adding extenders so hence my design.....

I'm not using the stock pillion foot.  It's been modified forward and down from the stockers.  I think it's a Honda footpeg from what I recall.

so what do you suggest if you have to remove the panniers to park the bike ? not have the bars at all?

Thats unfortunate that you have to remove the panniers to park the bike, and you have come up with a great idea, and neatly done, like I said.

I echoed some of the comments as to why someone would ride without panniers after purchasing guards, thats all ..........enjoy

Removing the MCE bars is a bit of a pain.  It's not difficult but you have to remove the foot peg to get to one of the mounting bolts.  In order to remove the muffler I have to take off the guard from the right side.  However, I'm lucky in that I don't need to remove them to park the bike in the garage.  It has plenty of working space around it.  And I don't ride without the cases installed.  I'm too much of a pack rat for that.

yes that was me asking.
my gtr wont go in the shed with the panniers on due to the house wall and fences :censored: so I have to remove every time.
that's why asked ant about hinged ones to stay on permanently not bothered about looks just the safety of guards
