Hi

Before I bought my GTR a friend who owns one said that he noticed that with his GTR the wheels/tyres loose pressure with time - about 1 or 2 lbs per week. I have also noticed the same thing and every week possibly every two weeks I have I have to top up the tyres (front and rear) by 1 or 2lbs. I am on my second set of fronts and third set of rears and it has been happening with all of them.

I know tyre pressures will change with temperature/time and I have always checked the tyre pressure on a regular basis on all of the bikes I have had. When the temperature is fairly consistent I wouldn't expect the tyre pressure to change by any measurable amount. On the last bike, CBF1000, I would only have to adjust the tyre pressures 3-4 times per year to take into account changes in temperature.

So I am slightly surprised that air seems to be gradually seeping out from the tyres. I have even left the pressure checks for a couple of weeks to make sure using the pressure gauge rather than TPS isn't causing the problem, I have checked/replaced the values, the bike is on parked on the centre stand when it is garaged and the bike is used at least once a week - so its not stood around for any length of time.

So is anybody else finding this?

Is it a Kawasaki trait or just mine and my friend's that have this problem?

Kind regards

Steven

Mine is fairly constant, but bear in mind rubber is porous and some pressure will be lost over a period of time through the tyre.

That said, it sounds more like the valve is seeping, although if it is both that would seem strange.

Get your dealer to check the valves

I had a similar problem a year ago. When they fitted my conti road attack 2s, I made then clean the rim properly. I still had to adjust pressure about once every six weeks. Same on the pr3s

Worthwhile asking for the rim top be cleaned properly next time you get the tyres changed

Tyre pressures on mine are constant. They need a couple of PSI in them now to top them up but I cant remember the last time I put any air in them. :-\

Had my GTR since 1st March and not lost any pressure

Sorry but same as Fred24 ... no problems since March ..........

Hi

This is my second GTR1400 and the only time I lost pressure was when I had a puncture and as my nickname suggests I get full use of the tyres. First bike front tyre 7000 miles, rear 12000 then changed them both again after an other 9000 miles. The non factory ones don't last as long for some reason.
Second bike both went to 11000 miles. Still running the new ones.
